New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers underwent a second surgery on his knee to remove scar tissue that was causing stiffness, according to league sources. The second surgery took place “multiple weeks ago,” according to a source, and was described as a “clean up.”

The second surgery isn’t expected to impact Nabers’ recovery timeline from the torn ACL and torn meniscus he suffered in Week 4 last season. Nabers first underwent surgery to repair his ACL and meniscus on Oct. 28.

The Giants are still hoping their top receiver will be ready for the season opener. New coach John Harbaugh said on April 7 that Nabers’ timeline “is going to be more into training camp and closer to the season.”

Nabers suffered the season-ending injury in the first half of then-rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart’s first start. Nabers is expected to be the focal point of a reshaped passing attack that added tight end Isaiah Likely and wide receiver Darnell Mooney in free agency, and Malachi Fields in the third round of the draft.

Nabers had 109 catches for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games as a rookie in 2024.
