The staff for the anime of Kentarou‘s From Overshadowed to Overpowered (Rakudai Kenja no Gakuin Musō: Nidome no Tensei, S-Rank Cheat Majutsushi Bōkenroku) manga based on Arata Shiraishi‘s Rakudai Kenja no Gakuin Musō: Nido Tensei Shita Saikyō Kenja, 400-nen-go no Sekai o Maken de Musō light novel series announced on Sunday that the group TrySail is performing the anime’s ending theme song “Dōkei” (Aspiration).

Musician sabio wrote the lyrics and music for the song, and also handled its arrangement. The song will go on sale as the group’s 18th single on August 5.

Comikey is releasing the manga in English, and it is also available through Square Enix‘s Manga UP! Global service. Comikey describes the manga’s story:

Ephtal is reincarnated as a human, coming from modern Earth. In this new world where magic is real, he decides to devote the entirety of his life in the pursuit of magic. Despite his efforts, though, he discovers that he is absolutely talentless in magic, and breathed his last in anguish….But it isn’t the end for him just yet! He reincarnates once again bearing the same name, Ephtal, 400 years later. Having retained his knowledge and power, he steels his resolve and once again sets his sights for the peak of magic!

The anime stars:

Hisashi Ishii (Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, I’m Quitting Heroing, The Unaware Atelier Master) is directing the anime at EMT Squared, with Deko Akao (Higehiro, Komi Can’t Communicate, Flying Witch) supervising the series’ scripts. Hideki Furukawa (WATAMOTE, Strike The Blood III onwards, Ayakashi Triangle) is designing the characters.

The anime debuting in July is adapting Kentarou‘s manga, and specifically uses the manga’s slightly different title.

Kentarou launched the manga in Square Enix‘s Manga UP! website in September 2019. Square Enix will publish the manga’s ninth compiled book volume on July 7.

Arata Shiraishi originally published the story in a web novel format, before Kadokawa published the first print volume in October 2019, with illustrations by uodenim. Kadokawa published the eighth novel volume in March 2022.

The world lost a veteran anime voice actor with the May 15 announcement of Wakana Yamazaki‘s death. She is best known for his roles as Ran Mōri in the Detective Conan franchise, Meiko Akizuki in Marmalade Boy, Ruri-Hume in Mononoke, Koan in Sailor Moon R, and Nene in Samurai Warriors, among others. Her work as a voice actor has touched the lives and hearts of creators and fans alike. Now, those creators and fans are paying their respects:

Mariko Kouda, voice of Marmalade Boy lead Miki Koishikawa, wrote a long eulogy for Yamazaki on her blog. Kouda began by addressing Yamazaki as her Marmalade Boy character Meiko Akizuki:

Meiko, you’re joking, right?

Tell me it’s a joke.

Nacchan’s going to cry,

Meiko,
Please tell me you’re joking.

Smile at me like you always do with your hair flowing in the breeze.

Let’s laugh
And eat delicious food together
And talk a bunch more.

Tell me it’s not true.

Wakana-san,
We’ve always been together,
Ever since we debuted.

You can’t just suddenly disappear.
You were just taking a short break, right?

You can’t just suddenly disappear.

It was thanks to you, Wakana-san,
That I fell in love with hedgehogs.
It was thanks to, Wakana-san, I became interested in Mongolia.

Ever since we first met you’ve had the same smile,
And you were a gentle and radiant person.

Wakana-san,

Please call me Miki, call me Mari-chan
With your voice.

Wakana-san
Wakana-san
Wakana-san.

Now that you’re free from your illness,
It’s like your smile
Is projected across the sky …

Wakana-san,
Thank you always, always, always
For your kindness and similes.

Wakana-san,
I love you so much.

I love you Meiko.

Seven Seas licensed the romantic comedy manga, and it describes the story:

The anime stars:

Aoi Umeki (Pop Team Epic) is directing the anime and also co-writing the scripts and designing the characters. Drive is animating the series. Naoki Yoshibe (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure animation director) is the assistant director, and Yasuko Aoki (Phantom of the Idol, Tying the Knot With an Amagami Sister) of Studio Monado is both co-writing and overseeing the series scripts. Ayana Tsujita (The Demon Prince of Momochi House) is composing the music.

The anime premiered on the Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, and BS11 channels on April 1 at 24:30 (effectively April 2 at 12:30 a.m.). The show’s first and second episodes premiered together online exclusively on Hulu on April 1 at 24:30, and then each new episode premieres a week earlier on Hulu before the television broadcast in Japan. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS, and is also streaming an English dub.

Syundei first published the original Go for It, Nakamura! manga as a short in Akaneshinsha‘s boys-love anthology Opera in December 2014, but began publishing new chapters in the magazine in June 2015. Akaneshinsha published one compiled book volume for the manga in May 2017.

Syundei launched a sequel titled Go for It Again, Nakamura! (Motto Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!!) in Opera in June 2017. Akaneshinsha published the manga’s volume in August 2021. Seven Seas published the sequel.

Syundei recently deleted their X (formerly Twitter) account after describing dealing with alleged online harassment, regarding their illustrations and character depictions in the Go For It, Nakamura-kun! manga.

I believed she’d recover and come back to us healthy and strong…
Wakana-chan was the same age as me…
Our birthdays were also close…
I sent her a LINE message,

I never imagined… it would be over…
It’s too soon…
But please wait for me on the other side.
For now, I just hope… she rests in peace…
