Vaibhav Sooryavanshi: Teenager, 15, wins car for IPL season achievements
Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has won a car for his performances in the Indian Premier League – but the 15-year-old will have to wait three years to drive it.
Left-hander Sooryavanshi has excelled in the IPL this season, scoring 776 runs in 16 innings at a strike rate of 237.30.
He was named Most Valuable Player for the 2026 campaign, despite his team Rajasthan Royals not reaching the final.
The teenager also picked up the emerging player award and the Orange Cap, given to the highest run-scorer.
Among his prizes was a Tata Sierra – a popular mid-size SUV in India – but he cannot get behind the wheel because the minimum driving age in the country is 18.
Sooryavanshi’s individual prize money totalled more than £30,000.

England vs India: Danni Wyatt-Hodge backs Sophia Dunkley despite lean run
Dunkley’s retention upon Wyatt-Hodge’s return was a clear sign of England’s thinking.
Alice Capsey, who made a match-winning 74 not out against New Zealand last month when standing in for Wyatt-Hodge, was pushed down to number four.
Discussion over the England top order’s ability to hit boundaries was dampened by Freya Kemp’s hitting in the win in Bristol on Saturday and the line-up is likely to remain for Tuesday’s series decider in Taunton.
Dunkley also made a 51-ball century as opener during England’s intra-squad series in South Africa in March.
A further decision will need to be made, however, once captain Nat Sciver-Brunt recovers from her calf injury, possibly in time for next week’s official warm-ups against India and Australia.
Those are England’s final fixtures before the World Cup begins on 12 June.
“I’ve opened the batting with Sophia Dunkley for a number of years now and we all know how good Sophia is at taking the game on from ball one at her best,” Wyatt-Hodge said.
“It’s not an easy thing to do, especially when the ball’s swinging and moving off the pitch.
“Dunks has been so successful at the top and we’ve put some good partnerships on together, so I’m really looking forward to getting out there with her tomorrow [Tuesday] and in the World Cup as well.”

French Open 2026 results: Qualifier Maja Chwalinska into Roland Garros quarter-finals
“Nobody knows me, to be honest.”
But Poland’s Maja Chwalinska is perhaps only a few matches away from that changing forever.
The 24-year-old has become the first qualifier to reach the quarter-finals of the French Open women’s singles in six years after beating French player Diane Parry 6-3 6-2.
Having come through three qualifying rounds to secure her main-draw debut at Roland Garros, a beaming Chwalinska shook her head in disbelief after completing her victory on Court Philippe Chatrier.
Prior to this tournament, the world number 114 had won two tour-level main-draw matches on clay in her career, and registered just one win – at Wimbledon in 2022 – in her only two Slam appearances.
But she has won all seven of her matches at Roland Garros since qualifying began two weeks ago, claiming six of those in straight sets, and is projected to break into the world’s top 50.
“I didn’t expect it for sure. I’m just very grateful to be here,” Chwalinska told the crowd.
