Chris Hayes Says Trump Derailed Housing Bill to Chase ‘Dictator’ Power

Published

on

Chris Hayes torched Donald Trump for derailing a bipartisan housing bill, suggesting the president refused to sign it in order to chase “dictator” ambitions.

“Why would Trump punt on what is by all accounts a very popular bill, a bill you could go and sell to the American people? And the answer is really, in large part — the main answer is that he just doesn’t care,” the MS NOW host said during Wednesday’s broadcast for “All In With Chris Hayes.” “He couldn’t care less. It would be impossible for the man to care less about whether your housing is expensive.”

He continued: “In fact, don’t take my word for it. He told the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, as much weeks ago: ‘No one gives a bleep about housing.’ The ‘no one’ there being: ‘I don’t give a bleep about housing.’ People really do care about housing.”

As Hayes went on, he suggested that Trump “only cares about two things right now,” adding, “He cares about building a bunch of stuff, like his ballroom and his arch and the reflecting pool, and he cares about becoming a dictator – and rigging the elections in order to become a dictator.”

At this moment, Hayes highlighted Trump’s reasoning for not signing the bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act on Wednesday, which was that he wanted Congress to pass the SAVE America Act first.

“His stated reason for punting on the ceremony today was he wants his voter suppression bill passed first,” Hayes sounded off. “Okay, there’s a lot in there. I mean, the first is that he just cares about rigging the election. And sabotaging free and fair elections, right? That’s what he cares about. And he’s not bluffing here.”

Hayes warned that this wasn’t “just talk” from Trump, noting there’s “a lot of action behind it.” Specifically, Hayes highlighted how the Postmanager General recently said Trump is serious about restricting the delivery of mail-in ballots.

He also tore into Trump for lying about election rigging brought about by mail-in votes in California. “That’s all nonsense. It’s either lies or dementia or some combination of the two. You never know. Self-delusion,” Hayes said. “There is no evidence Trump actually altered the results despite his implication.”

“But the fact that you would make those comments publicly, boast about it, means he does not even care if you know that he would, and this is really important, he would rather cheat than win,” he noted. “Think about what he did today. The midterms are coming up … A President who’s concerned about persuading persuadable voters would make a big to-do about signing a bipartisan housing bill.”

Yet, Hayes said Trump did not do that as he “doesn’t want to win, he wants to cheat.”

“He doesn’t actually care what the voters think,” he said. “Because he wants to suppress the vote and control the electorate.”

“All In With Chris Hayes” airs weeknights at 8 p.m. ET on MS NOW.

The Directors Guild of America ratified a new four-year contract Thursday designed to protect members’ jobs during Hollywood’s historic slump.

DGA President Christopher Nolan and National Executive Director Russell Hollander shared with members on Thursday that the deal was “overwhelmingly” approved, adding, “Throughout this process, our focus was clear: protect our members, strengthen the Guild and address the challenges facing our industry during a period of profound change.”

They continued: “This incredible show of support from our membership for this new contract shows the strength of our unity and our solidarity.”

The AMPTP echoed a similar sentiment Thursday evening, in which they congratulated the DGA on ratifying the new contract.

“This agreement delivers historic contributions to the guild’s health plan, meaningful wage and residuals improvements and strong job protections,” the statement read. “With the spring 2026 bargaining cycle now complete, the AMPTP thanks the DGA, WGA, and SAG-AFTRA for their thoughtful and collaborative approach to negotiations.”

The statement continued: “Together, we reached agreements that deliver substantial gains for guild members while supporting greater stability across the entertainment business. We are encouraged by the trust built throughout this cycle and look forward to building on that momentum to advance opportunity and shared success across our industry.”

Andy Cohen Chokes Back Tears While Paying Tribute to Late ‘WWHL’ Staffer

Published

Andy Cohen fought back tears while sharing with his studio audience that the “Watch What Happens Live” family lost a beloved member this week.

During Thursday’s episode of the Bravo late night show, Cohen took a moment to address the death of Kyra Samson, who worked for “Watch What Happens Live” for several years, including as a production manager.

“Before we go tonight, I have some devastating news to share from our ‘Watch What Happens Live’ family,” Cohen said. “This is hard for me to get through, but, on Tuesday night, our beloved former production manager Kyra Samson passed away from brain cancer. She was only 28. During her four wonderful years with us, Kyra was known for her sweet smile and gentle demeanor – but she could also be a small but mighty enforcer.”

As Cohen went on he, recalled seeing Samson “on a bullhorn corralling massive crowds at BravoCon,” praising it as “truly a sight to behold.”

“She’s gonna be terribly missed by all of us here. And, no doubt, by everyone who was lucky enough to know her,” Cohen added while wiping away his tears. “I hope you’ll join us in honoring her legacy by donating to the Kyra Fund, which will help provide urgently needed research for people with glioblastomas – and hopefully help future Kyras out there.”

Before concluding, a tearful Cohen shared that they were sending “all of our prayers and love to her family and her friends. We love you, Kyra.”

Watch Cohen’s tribute below.

Cohen’s tribute came a day after Samson’s father, David Samson, the former Miami Marlins team president, shared word of her passing on X.

“Yesterday, my daughter, Kyra, passed away peacefully after a 9 month and 11 day fight against one of the cruelest diseases I’ve ever seen up close,” he wrote alongside a photo of his daughter. “She was diagnosed with Brain Cancer, specifically Glioblastoma. I have felt all of your concern and love for these months and wasn’t ready to be anymore specific than I was.”

He continued: “Kyra was a 28-year-old young woman who loved deeply and who is impossible to describe in 280 characters. While her life got stolen from her, she handled these months with courage, poise and resolve. And all I want is for no family to feel what we feel today. For no young person to suffer the way she did.”

Like Cohen, the elder Samson encouraged his followers to donate to the fund set up for Glioblastoma research. You can find the link here.

‘Hannah Montana’s Mitchel Musso On Why He Missed 20th Anniversary

Published

on

After Miley Cyrus reunited with her alter ego for the Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special in March, one of her co-stars is explaining his absence.

Mitchel Musso, who played Hannah’s friend Oliver Oken on the Disney Channel show, noted he had a scheduling conflict, but he would have made time for the reunion if it was a new episode of the 2006-’11 series or a movie.

“The kid in me was banking on it, like ‘I can’t wait for us to all be on set again,’ and it just didn’t work out that way,” he said on the Joe Vulpis Podcast. “Do something other than what was done. Like, do an episode. Do the show. The set’s still there. Or it can be dressed very quick with somebody who’s a pro, and they did that for that and just did it differently.”

Musso continued, “It is what it is. But it wasn’t the right thing and I was busy doing something that was more important, right? But it would have been way more important if it would have just been an episode, or a movie, or a whatever. Of course, that would have been more important.”

The actor said he would have “dropped everything” if it meant getting back into character as Oliver. “It would have been everything,” he said.

“It didn’t turn out that way… Of course they asked me. But like I said, it wasn’t presented correctly,” added Musso. “And I’ve been waiting 10 years. You know, the people they say 20. My break’s been 10. So, it’s too long of a wait to do it in a way that isn’t even close to, in my opinion, correct.”

Emily Osment, who played Miley and Oliver’s friend Lilly Truscott, was also absent from the reunion special, noting she was busy filming Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage but feels “lucky to have been a part of this once-in-a-generation goliath of a television show” like Hannah Montana.
