DGA Ratifies New 4-Year Deal as Industry Slump Persists

Published

on

The Directors Guild of America ratified a new four-year contract Thursday designed to protect members’ jobs during Hollywood’s historic slump.

DGA President Christopher Nolan and National Executive Director Russell Hollander shared with members on Thursday that the deal was “overwhelmingly” approved, adding, “Throughout this process, our focus was clear: protect our members, strengthen the Guild and address the challenges facing our industry during a period of profound change.”

They continued: “This incredible show of support from our membership for this new contract shows the strength of our unity and our solidarity.”

The AMPTP echoed a similar sentiment Thursday evening, in which they congratulated the DGA on ratifying the new contract.

“This agreement delivers historic contributions to the guild’s health plan, meaningful wage and residuals improvements and strong job protections,” the statement read. “With the spring 2026 bargaining cycle now complete, the AMPTP thanks the DGA, WGA, and SAG-AFTRA for their thoughtful and collaborative approach to negotiations.”

The statement continued: “Together, we reached agreements that deliver substantial gains for guild members while supporting greater stability across the entertainment business. We are encouraged by the trust built throughout this cycle and look forward to building on that momentum to advance opportunity and shared success across our industry.”

Andy Cohen Chokes Back Tears While Paying Tribute to Late ‘WWHL’ Staffer

Published

Andy Cohen fought back tears while sharing with his studio audience that the “Watch What Happens Live” family lost a beloved member this week.

During Thursday’s episode of the Bravo late night show, Cohen took a moment to address the death of Kyra Samson, who worked for “Watch What Happens Live” for several years, including as a production manager.

“Before we go tonight, I have some devastating news to share from our ‘Watch What Happens Live’ family,” Cohen said. “This is hard for me to get through, but, on Tuesday night, our beloved former production manager Kyra Samson passed away from brain cancer. She was only 28. During her four wonderful years with us, Kyra was known for her sweet smile and gentle demeanor – but she could also be a small but mighty enforcer.”

As Cohen went on he, recalled seeing Samson “on a bullhorn corralling massive crowds at BravoCon,” praising it as “truly a sight to behold.”

“She’s gonna be terribly missed by all of us here. And, no doubt, by everyone who was lucky enough to know her,” Cohen added while wiping away his tears. “I hope you’ll join us in honoring her legacy by donating to the Kyra Fund, which will help provide urgently needed research for people with glioblastomas – and hopefully help future Kyras out there.”

Before concluding, a tearful Cohen shared that they were sending “all of our prayers and love to her family and her friends. We love you, Kyra.”

Watch Cohen’s tribute below.

Cohen’s tribute came a day after Samson’s father, David Samson, the former Miami Marlins team president, shared word of her passing on X.

“Yesterday, my daughter, Kyra, passed away peacefully after a 9 month and 11 day fight against one of the cruelest diseases I’ve ever seen up close,” he wrote alongside a photo of his daughter. “She was diagnosed with Brain Cancer, specifically Glioblastoma. I have felt all of your concern and love for these months and wasn’t ready to be anymore specific than I was.”

He continued: “Kyra was a 28-year-old young woman who loved deeply and who is impossible to describe in 280 characters. While her life got stolen from her, she handled these months with courage, poise and resolve. And all I want is for no family to feel what we feel today. For no young person to suffer the way she did.”

Like Cohen, the elder Samson encouraged his followers to donate to the fund set up for Glioblastoma research. You can find the link here.

‘Hannah Montana’s Mitchel Musso On Why He Missed 20th Anniversary

Published

on

After Miley Cyrus reunited with her alter ego for the Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special in March, one of her co-stars is explaining his absence.

Mitchel Musso, who played Hannah’s friend Oliver Oken on the Disney Channel show, noted he had a scheduling conflict, but he would have made time for the reunion if it was a new episode of the 2006-’11 series or a movie.

“The kid in me was banking on it, like ‘I can’t wait for us to all be on set again,’ and it just didn’t work out that way,” he said on the Joe Vulpis Podcast. “Do something other than what was done. Like, do an episode. Do the show. The set’s still there. Or it can be dressed very quick with somebody who’s a pro, and they did that for that and just did it differently.”

Musso continued, “It is what it is. But it wasn’t the right thing and I was busy doing something that was more important, right? But it would have been way more important if it would have just been an episode, or a movie, or a whatever. Of course, that would have been more important.”

The actor said he would have “dropped everything” if it meant getting back into character as Oliver. “It would have been everything,” he said.

“It didn’t turn out that way… Of course they asked me. But like I said, it wasn’t presented correctly,” added Musso. “And I’ve been waiting 10 years. You know, the people they say 20. My break’s been 10. So, it’s too long of a wait to do it in a way that isn’t even close to, in my opinion, correct.”

Emily Osment, who played Miley and Oliver’s friend Lilly Truscott, was also absent from the reunion special, noting she was busy filming Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage but feels “lucky to have been a part of this once-in-a-generation goliath of a television show” like Hannah Montana.

Jesse Watters Slams Bisexuals After Milly Alcock’s Supergirl Sexuality Remark

Published

on

Jesse Watters took aim at bisexual women after “Supergirl” star Milly Alcock suggested her character might “go both ways.”

The Fox News host sounded off on the idea of Alcock’s titular superhero being queer during Thursday’s episode of “The Five,” where he claimed bisexuality was actually a turn off for men.

“No man will ever see this movie,” Watters said of the upcoming DC Universe film, set to hit theaters on Friday. “And most women won’t see it. The ones that do, there’s just not enough of them to make money from the movie, if you know what I mean.”

Watters then circled back to Alcock’s suggestion that Supergirl could possibly be queer, slamming bisexual women as “weird” and not to be trusted.

“But the whole bisexual thing … guys don’t get into that,” he said. “Maybe that’s cool when you’re 18, but when a girl’s bisexual, we don’t trust her. We don’t trust her. And the ones I’ve met are super weird. So to say you’re bisexual, it’s not a turn on. It’s not a turn on.”

Watch his comments for yourself below.

Watters’ remark was clipped shortly after the episode aired and widely shared on X, prompting a big reaction online. “Does he think people are bisexual for the arousal of others?” one critic wrote in response. Another user seemed to echo this sentiment, noting, “Ah yes, the reason why women identify a certain way. Because it’s a turn on for Jesse Watters.”

A third critic added, “Watters is babbling about something he knows nothing about. Sorry to say, guys ARE into it.”

And, for those wondering, Alcock never said outright that her character, Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, was bisexual.

Rather, at the London premiere last week when asked by AP News whether Supergirl identifies as LGBTQ+, Alcock responded, “I don’t know. I think that what makes this film so beautiful is that it’s not centered around a man, it’s not centered around love at all … But, we’ll see. I don’t really know. She’d probably go both ways.”

“Supergirl” soars into theaters on June 26.
