Yuzu Soft’s Senren * Banka Visual Novel Gets Anime in 2027 – News

Visual novel developer Yuzu Soft announced during its “Yuzu Soft Songfes 2026″ event on Sunday that its Senren * Banka visual novel will have an anime adaptation that will premiere in 2027. The software’s cast members Sora Haruka (Eri Sendai), Yūki Kotorii (Natsumi Takamori), Mikan Satō (Nozomi Yamamoto), and Sawa Sawawa (Atsumi Tanezaki) are all reprising their roles as Yoshino Tomotake, Mako Hitachi, Murasame, and Lena Liechtenauer, respectively. KOTOKO is performing the anime’s opening theme song after doing the same for the visual novel. Sunday’s announcement did not confirm the anime’s format.

NekoNyan describes the game:

Deep in the mountains lies Hoori, a small village so remote that no trains stop there. Due to its isolation, it has resisted the spread of civilization. However, its rustic charm and hot springs have transformed it into a famous tourist destination.

One of the village’s biggest draws is the divine blade Murasamemaru, stuck in a stone from which no one has been able to pull it out of… until our protagonist Arichi Masaomi manages to break it in half.

Before he can even come to grips with what just happened, he’s forced to make amends for what he’s done. How, you might ask? By marrying the village’s shrine maiden, of course!

He’s already in way over his head, but this is just the start of his mysterious and unfathomable new life in this village.

Masaomi then goes on to meet his new fiance, discovers an enigmatic and strange girl that only he can touch, and begins to learn about the curse afflicting the village of Hoori.

Amidst this hectic new life, who will he set his heart on? The answers he seeks lie within the legendary sword in his hands.

Yuzu Soft released the visual novel in Japan in July 2016 in celebration of the company’s 10th anniversary. Sekai Project announced in July 2017 that it will release the game in English, but NekoNyan announced in 2018 that it will release the visual novel in English instead. NekoNyan released the game in English in February 2020. The game released on the Switch in May 2022.

My Hero Academia’s Kōhei Horikoshi Writes New 1-Shot Manga – News

Warawanaide yo, Shijima-san debuts on August 10

Kōhei Horikoshi (My Hero Academia) will launch a new one-shot manga titled Warawanaide yo, Shijima-san (Don’t Laugh at Me, Shijima) in the combined 37th and 38th issue of Shueisha‘s Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine on August 10.

The story will be a “boy-meets-girl horror” manga.

Kōhei Horikoshi launched the My Hero Academia manga series in Weekly Shonen Jump in July 2014, and ended it in August 2024. He added 38 pages of new content in the manga’s 42nd and final compiled book volume in December 2024. Viz Media published the manga in English digitally and in print in North America. Shueisha‘s MANGA Plus service also published the manga in English digitally. The manga crossed 100 million copies in circulation worldwide in April 2024.

A short story Horikoshi wrote for the My Hero Academia Fan Book: Ultra Age is inspiring a short anime. The anime first debuted at Anime Expo in July, and will screen in Japan at the “Character Match Up” event on August 1-2. The anime will then debut on streaming services in Japan on August 3.

The television anime’s eighth and final season premiered in October 2025 on YTV and NTV‘s affiliate channels. Crunchyroll streamed the anime worldwide excluding Asia as it aired in Japan, and streamed its English dub. The final episode of the anime aired last December.

‘You Got Me, Sempai!’ Author Azusa Mase Launches New Manga – News

Mase launches Kumo Gakure Romantic on August 24

The September issue of Kodansha‘s Dessert magazine announced on July 24 that Azusa Mase will launch a new manga titled Kumo Gakure Romantic (bottom left in below image) in the magazine’s next issue on August 24.

The manga’s story centers on a laid back boys’ Ninja Club that lives by the motto, “Live freely and carefree as a Ninja.” But one day, they catch the eye of the cheerleading club’s well-known “Queen of Romance,” Yui. The boys now find themselves locked in her sights.

Mase launched the You Got Me, Sempai! (Mairimashita, Senpai) manga in Dessert magazine in June 2016, and it ended serialization in October 2020. Kodansha published the manga’s 10th and final compiled book volume in December 2020. Kodansha USA Publishing released the manga’s volumes digitally in English.

IDW Licenses Sonic the Hedgehog: The Blade of Courage Manga – News

IDW began publishing Yūki Imada‘s Sonic the Hedgehog: The Blade of Courage (Sonic to Yūki no Tsurugi) manga in English through the IDW Comics app on Wednesday.

Yūki Imada launched the manga in Shogakukan‘s Monthly CoroCoro Comic magazine in June 2025. Shogakukan shipped the single compiled book volume on December 26.

The manga follows the speedy hedgehog Sonic, who teams up with a slow human named Yuta. Together, they travel through the jungle to save the world.

Imada ended the Shadow the Hedgehog manga in February 2025. Imada launched the manga in Monthly Coro Coro Comics in September 2024. The manga’s single compiled book volume shipped in April 2025.

Imada ended the Mini4King manga with Hiroyuki Takei in April 2023.
