Manga ‘Gabriel DropOut’ Concludes Serialization
The official X account for author Ukami announced on Sunday that the Gabriel DropOut manga will end in the October issue of Comic Dengeki Daioh “g” magazine, marking the end of the manga’s nearly 13-year run.
Ukami began serializing the supernatural comedy manga in Comic Dengeki Daioh “g” magazine in December 2013. ASCII Media Works published the 16th volume in September 2025.
A 12-episode television anime adaptation produced by Doga Kobo aired in Winter 2017, followed by a two-episode special anime released from March to May 2017. Crunchyroll simulcasted the anime with subtitles.
Yen Press licensed the manga in English in March 2017. The 15th volume went on sale in December 2025, with the 16th volume scheduled for a December 15 release.
Synopsis
For centuries, Heaven has required its young angels to live and study among humans in order to become full-fledged angels. This is no different for top-of-her-class Gabriel White Tenma, who believes it is her mission to be a great angel who will bring happiness to mankind. However, Gabriel grows addicted to video games on Earth and eventually becomes a hikikomori. Proclaiming herself a “Fallen Angel,” she is apathetic to everything else—much to the annoyance of Vignette April Tsukinose, a demon whom Gabriel befriended in her angelic early days on Earth.
Vignette’s attempts to revert Gabriel back to her previous self are in vain, as Gabriel shoots down any attempt to change her precious lifestyle. As they spend their time on Earth, they meet two eccentric personalities: the angel Raphiel Ainsworth Shiraha, Gabriel’s classmate with a penchant for sadism, and the demon Satanichia McDowell Kurumizawa, a clumsy self-proclaimed future ruler of the Underworld.
Gabriel DropOut follows these four friends’ comedic lives as they utterly fail to understand what it truly means to be a demon or an angel. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

The Tapas service describes the story:
This game’s got me obsessed! It’s like it’s taken over my life… wait—HARD MODE ACTIVATED. No-no-no-no-no! It has literally taken me and thrown me into the part of Penelope Eckhart. Love is easy as the heroine, but as the hated villain, I’m trying very hard not to die… at the hands of my brothers… the prince… a fork… every possible ending is death! This world is stacked against me, but can my wits and insider game knowledge score the affection of these male characters? Or the reset button???
Originally adapted from a web novel by Gwon Gyeoeul, Villains Are Destined to Die is part of the popular reincarnated-villainess romance fantasy genre and later became one of the Kakao Page platform’s most-read webcomics in South Korea. The original novel has surpassed 1.7 million views and 145,000 likes, while the webtoon recorded over 14.8 million views and 1.5 million likes.
Originally launched in 2020, the webtoon concluded its main story in chapter 214 on Kakao Page in South Korea in July, and the staff plans to return for a spinoff after taking a break. The English version is currently available on Tapas, where it has been serialized through Chapter 210.
Piccoma publishes the manga and also the novel by Gwon Gyeoeul in Japan. Kadokawa published the manga’s first compiled book volume in March 2022, and will release the 12th volume on November 17.
The franchise has also expanded into English print through Ize Press. The company is releasing the novel series in five volumes across print, eBook, and audio formats, and will release the fourth volume on September 15.
The webtoon adaptation remains one of Ize Press’ best-selling titles to date, underscoring the property’s strong international fanbase and ongoing momentum across formats. Ize Press will release the ninth volume on August 18.
