Anne Hathaway on Her Busy Year of Movies, Adaptation of ‘Yesteryear’
It’s eight months into 2026 and Anne Hathaway is about to release her fourth movie of the year.
The star is on quite a run, with her latest film The End of Oak Street joining her recent releases The Odyssey, Devil Wears Prada 2 and Mother Mary; and she’s not even done, with an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Verity coming in October.
“When I got my schedule for this year from all the wonderful film studios that I’ve worked with, I saw it and I kind of thought I was being punked,” Hathaway admitted to The Hollywood Reporter at The End of Oak Street premiere on Sunday. “But then they showed me that no, no, no, all these [release] dates were going to hold and I just said as long as audiences don’t get sick of my face — which I wouldn’t blame them, I would not blame them if they did— let’s go.”
She continued of her busy and wide-ranging slate, “I think it’s fun. Obviously I love making movies, take a look, but I also love that audiences want to go see original things and this movie is really original. It’s David Robert Mitchell in the director’s chair, directing a script that he wrote, and I’ve never seen anything like this so I was just really happy to be a part of it.”
The End of Oak Street sees Hathaway starring alongside Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella and Christian Convery as a family trying to survive when their neighborhood mysteriously uproots and they find themselves surrounded by dinosaurs.
And it’s not the only sci-fi on the actress’ plate, as Hathaway is set to write and produce a big-screen adaptation of Caro Claire Burke’s smash novel Yesteryear. The book is one of the biggest of 2026, having spent 17 weeks on the New York Times Best Sellers list, and follows a tradwife influencer who finds herself transported back to the 19th century.
Speaking for the first time about the project on the carpet, Hathaway noted, “That’s been a really fun discovery because I read a draft two years ago and I knew the intense feeling that I had for it, so it’s been really fun watching people discover it. I have friends writing me, they’re like ‘What, how?’”
She continued, “One of my friends wrote me and said ‘I can’t remember the last time that I immediately re-read a book.’ People are just loving it and I couldn’t be happier for Caro, what a triumph for her. And now we just have to do the movie justice.”
In the meantime, The End of Oak Street hits theaters on Friday.

Comedy series Dig, which reunites Amy Poehler and Parks & Recreation executive producer Michael Schur, will hit the small screen this fall.
Premiering November 23, Dig centers a team of dedicated archaeologists (and some less-dedicated college students) who spend their summer working on a dig site in Greece, where they discover a rare artifact that prompts the adventure of a lifetime. The long-buried secret also grants them the potential to rewrite history as they find themselves at the heart of a high-stakes international conspiracy. The comedy series contains ten episodes.
The series stars Amy Poehler, Hugh Laurie, Geraldine Viswanathan, Antonia Thomas and Fina Strazza. Guest cast include Kayvan Novak, Jon Pointing and Bonita Friedericy.
Poehler will play Elise. Laurie will play Neville, a British professor who sincerely loves archaeology and strives to uphold the traditions of this dying profession. He fancies himself an inspiring mentor to everyone who works at the site.
The series is an adaptation of Kate Myers’ bestseller Excavations, produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. Michael Schur and Amy Poehler co-wrote the pilot episode and executive produce the series, with Poehler set to star.
J.J. Philbin (Only Murders in the Building) also serves as a writer, executive producer and co-showrunner on the series. Morgan Sackett is executive producing, along with Dean Holland, Kate Arend and Jordan Grief for Paper Kite, Dave Becky and David Miner for 3 Arts, and Sharon Jackson for Ocean Avenue. Author Kate Myers is co-executive producer.

The Hollywood Creative Alliance (HCA) is back with its 6th annual Astra TV Awards, announcing this year’s host and its latest batch of honorees.
Hosted by Lisa Ann Walter, this year’s awards ceremony is set for Saturday, Aug. 15 at InterContinental in Los Angeles, to be live-streamed at 7pm on YouTube, celebrating excellence across television and the creative arts.
The 2026 honorees include William H. Macy with the Timeless Award, Cedric the Entertainer receiving the Actor Spotlight Award, Jason Ritter with the Generations Award, Natalie Alyn Lind getting the TV Breakout Star Award, Shawn Hatosy with the Virtuoso Award and Troy Kotsur with the Impact Award.
“Lisa Ann Walter has built an extraordinary career by bringing humor, authenticity and heart to every role she takes on, making her the perfect host for this year’s celebration,” said Matt Weiss, EVP of the Astra Awards. “We’re equally thrilled to honor all these remarkable artists, William H. Macy, Cedric the Entertainer, Shawn Hatosy, Natalie Alyn Lind, Jason Ritter and Troy Kotsur, whose work continues to elevate television in unique and lasting ways.”
In addition to the Astra TV Awards’ honorary recipients, the HCA announced this year’s nominees across 45 categories in May, with The Pitt receiving the most nods at 12, followed by Hacks and Shrinking at 10 each.

Neon on Monday released the trailer for Paper Tiger, the drama written and directed by James Gray that had its world premiere in competition at the Cannes Film Festival.
The pic, starring Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson and Miles Teller, is gearing for a November 13 limited release date in the heart of awards season. First up, though, the New York-set movie is booked to open the New York Film Festival at the end of September.
Paper Tiger, set in 1986 Queens, NY, centers on brothers Gary (Driver), an ex-cop, and Isaac (Teller), an engineer, who become entangled in a scheme (thanks to Gary) that ends up involving the Russian mafia. The plan threatens to upend their chances at the American Dream, fray bonds, and put their entire family at dangerous risk. Johansson plays Isaac’s wife, who has her own turmoil.
Gray says the story is loosely based on his own family’s encounter with the Russian mafia in 1980s NYC.
In his review, Deadline’s Pete Hammond, who saw the film in Cannes, called it “superbly crafted by Gray, who knows how to twist a crime-genre tale into something fresh and pulse-pounding. He also realizes having a stake in these very recognizable characters is key to all of it working as well as it does, and casting actors on the level of Driver, Johansson and Teller makes [it] soar.”
The movie received a 10-minute standing ovation after its Cannes premiere. Neon had acquired it just ahead of the festival, which added the title as a late edition to its 2026 Competition lineup.
