Keep in mind that these rankings are based on how people rated individual episodes of the current season, not on the overall quality or popularity of the series.
Only the titles legally streaming in North America and popular enough are being ranked, so the bottom of the list might represent ‘watchable’ rather than ‘bad’.
Series that lack enough user votes will not qualify for the ranking.

Episode Rankings for the week of September 16-22

Along the actual ranking for this week’s episodes, this graph chronicles the change in position from week to week.
While some series are stable, others swing wildly in the rankings depending on the strength of each episode.
When a series has no episode for a given week, the previous week’s episode is used instead as a placeholder.
The first episode of each series is considered as part of the first week, even if it really streamed during the second week.

The rankings are computed using the Ranked pairs method,
with the variation that unrated titles are considered as abstentions instead of lower than the rated titles.
This roughly means that if, out of all people who rated both A and B, 60% preferred A, it will be ranked higher than B.

The rankings indicate relative quality (A is preferred to B), not absolute quality (B is good/bad).
While the titles are ranked from ‘best’ to ‘worst’, sometimes the difference between #1 and #10 can be very thin.
So if your favorite is near the bottom of the list, don’t take it personally.
It doesn’t mean it’s a bad show, it just means that ANN readers, on average, have preferred the ones above.

If a series has no episode for a given week, we use the rating data for the previous week’s episode in order to compute the weekly ranking.
This is not officially counted as a position in the ranking (it has no impact on the cumulative ranking), but it makes it easier to compare weeks if they each have the same number of series ranked.

It should be noted that long-running series (and sequels) have an advantage in the sense that only people who like the series are still watching it, and they are likely to give each episode a high rating.
But if such a series is going through a low-quality filler arc, the season will get low rankings that are not indicative of the true overall quality of the series.
Conversely, there are fewer people rating the show so it’s less likely to have enough votes to qualify for the ranking.

The official YouTube channel for the Code Geass franchise began streaming on Saturday a teaser trailer for Code Geass Star Chaser Aspal (Code Geass Hoshi Oi no Aspal), the new anime in the franchise, and it reveals the 2027 premiere:

Kazuya Nomura (Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie, Moriarty the Patriot two seasons, Robotics;Notes, Sengoku Basara – Samurai Kings second season) is directing the new anime. Mado Nozaki (Hello World light novel author, KADO – The Right Answer, Another World) is in charge of series scripts, Rolua (Yūsha Party kara Tsuihō Saretakedo original light novels’ illustrator) is designing the characters, and Yoshi. is designing the Agarmatha. Junbun Lin (Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- film design, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury – Prologue concept art, key animator) is in charge of background and special effects, and Ichinogi designed the title logo.

An official crossover manga between Code Geass and Gundam Wing, titled Shin Kidō Senki Gundam W x Code Geass – Hangyaku no Lelouch – Minuet Zero (Mobile Suit Gundam Wing x Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion – Minuet Zero), on Kadokawa‘s KadoComi platform launched on July 10. Kōjirō Taniguchi from Sunrise is credited with the scenario.

The Code Geass 20th anniversary project also includes the previously announced new musical stage play Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion – Seido ni Jyunzuru Kishi 2 (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion – A Knight who Follows His Beliefs 2), which will run in Osaka from January 23-25 and in Tokyo from January 29-February 1. A 20th Anniversary Exhibition will also open in Tokyo in September 2026, and in Osaka in November 2026.

The Code Geass franchise announced in December 2024 that it has several “new works in production.”

The original Code Geass television series premiered in 2006, followed by a sequel series in 2008. The series has inspired various manga and original video anime, including the five-part Code Geass: Akito the Exiled spinoff, which played in limited theatrical screenings from 2012 to 2016 before its home video release.

The first film in the series’ compilation recap trilogy, Code Geass – Hangyaku no Lelouch – Kōdō (lit.: The Awakening Path, official English subtitle: Initiation), opened in Japan in October 2017. The second film, Code Geass – Hangyaku no Lelouch – Handō (lit.: The Rebellion Path, official English subtitle: Transgression), opened in Japan in February 2018. The third film, Code Geass – Hangyaku no Lelouch – Ōdō (lit.: The Imperial Path, official English subtitle: Glorification), opened in May 2018. Funimation released the trilogy on Blu-ray Disc.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection opened in February 2019 in 120 theaters in Japan. Funimation screened the film in North America in May 2019. Producer Kōjirō Taniguchi said in April 2019 that the film is “phase 1” of a 10-year plan for new content in the Code Geass franchise.

Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture played in four parts in theaters in Japan from May to August 2024. It also streamed on Disney+ as 12 weekly episodes.
