Tyson Fury says his long-awaited all-British heavyweight fight against Anthony Joshua in December is in jeopardy because of a row between rival promoters.

The bout was announced earlier this week following years of failed negotiations, with the pair set to fight at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on 11 December.

The event, which will be broadcast on Netflix, was confirmed as a collaboration between Saudi boxing powerbroker Turki Alalshikh’s The Ring and UFC president Dana White, but this appears to be the sticking point.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, has been at odds with White in recent months, and says the UFC head’s involvement is a breach of their contract.

Fury says Matchroom promoter Hearn’s reluctance to work with White is putting the fight in doubt.

“Anthony Joshua and Eddie Hearn are trying to pull out of this fight. They’re saying they’re not going to fight now,” Fury posted on Instagram.

“It’s mainly to do with Eddie Hearn’s ego. He’s making up a million different things and threatening we’re not going to fight.

“Now you’ve got Turki Alalshikh finding alternative real men who will fight at the drop of a hand. Eddie Hearn has cost us the biggest fight in boxing history.”

Hearn has been publicly feuding with UFC president White since the launch of Zuffa Boxing earlier this year.

Speaking to IFL TV, Hearn said White’s involvement in the promotion of the Fury and Joshua fight “ain’t happening”, despite Netflix’s news release.

“Dana White cannot be involved with this fight promotion. Netflix clearly didn’t get the memo. No-one talks to each other,” said Hearn.

“Then Netflix say the fight is in conjunction with Dana White. Now we have to go through that process and deal with it. It’s a little bit annoying but as I’ve shown through the UK battle that we won, we stand by our contracts.”

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren said White was influential in securing the deal with Netflix after the fight was confirmed.

Fury’s claim the bout could be off follows his post on social media earlier this month suggesting that Joshua, 36, was backing out of the fight, before calling for a third match-up with Oleksandr Usyk.

There was no official statement from Hearn or Warren in the news release sent out by Netflix to announce the fight.

BBC Sport has contacted Matchroom, Warren’s company Queensberry Promotions, The Ring and Netflix for comment.

The dispute between Hearn and White is the latest stumbling block following years of failed negotiations around the fight.

In 2020, the two camps agreed the basis of a two-fight deal. In 2021, contracts were signed for an undisputed heavyweight contest, only for Deontay Wilder’s successful arbitration case to force Fury into a third fight with the American.

Then, in 2022, Joshua accepted a 60-40 split to challenge Fury, but that attempt also fell apart.

Fury and Joshua finally signed contracts for the bout earlier this year, with the date and venue confirmed this week.

Several national teams have changed managers since the World Cup, although Pocognoli is not garnering the same attention as Jurgen Klopp, Xavi Hernandez or Zinedine Zidane. Wonder why?

He has overseen just 107 games in his spells in charge at Union Saint-Gilloise and Monaco, after a playing career at left-back earned him 13 caps for Belgium.

Compared to Clarke, and many others on the international scene, he is somewhat inexperienced.

As is his squad. Twelve of them were not in the United States. Eight are yearning for a first cap. Pocognoli has cast his first net far and wide.

Sevilla striker Robbie Ure, Brondby captain Luis Binks and late addition Kristi Montgomery may never have had a look in under Clarke. Not an age thing, but Oli McBurnie is finally back with a point to prove.

James Wilson and Findlay Curtis were both capped by Clarke – the latter made two World Cup cameos – but both have been released to the Under-21s for their important hosting of Azerbaijan on Wednesday.

The focus on youth, led by SFA chief football officer Craig Mulholland, is a far cry from the output the last time Scotland were in Slovenia.

After an agonising 2-2 draw in 2017, which ended their hopes of a place at the 2018 World Cup, then-manager Gordon Strachan famously pointed towards genetics for his side’s failure.

The Slovenes, who appointed former centre-back Bostjan Cesar, sent off in the dying minutes of that game in 2017 back in January, are in a sticky spot with just one win in 10.

Whisper it, but Scotland should win here. But it’s about more than that as they get to grips with Pocognoli.

It could be argued there was no better time to roll the dice. It’s a relatively stress-free opening for him with Switzerland at home and North Macedonia away before they meet Slovenia again at Hampden on 6 October – all in the knowledge there are a couple of back-door routes to the Euros in two years’ time.

With that in the mind, the new manager will be granted a grace period by punters. Eleven days is more than most are awarded.

On Thursday, confirmation finally arrived that Fury and Joshua’s all-British heavyweight showdown will take place at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Friday December 11 following months of protracted negotiations to stage the biggest fight in British boxing history.

Saudi boxing powerbroker Turki Alalshikh announced the details had been ironed out for the two foremost heavyweights of their generation to collide but Fury has made the astonishing claim that the fight could be called off.

“Breaking news, Anthony Joshua and Eddie Hearn are trying to pull out the fight,” said Fury.

“They’re saying they’re not going to fight now. It’s mainly to do with Eddie Hearn’s ego. He’s making up a million different things and threatening ‘we’re not gonna fight’,” said Fury.

“Now the Gypsy King is coming back to the United Kingdon to thrash you in front of all my fans in Wales, and now you are making a million excuses.

“Now you’ve got Turki Alalshikh finding alternative, real men who will fight at the drop of a hat. I hope you are happy.”

Joshua and Fury, both former heavyweight world champions, have had a long-running rivalry, punctuated by callouts and trash talk but marred by the difficulty of finalising a deal.

Recent events in the ring had also threatened to derail it. Joshua’s tune-up bout in July almost ended in disaster when little-known Kristian Prenga knocked him down twice in the first round. Joshua rallied to dispatch Prenga in the second round.

Fury’s road to the fight has also been unusual. He announced his retirement after losing a rematch to Oleksandr Usyk and, after a year out of the sport, began training in Thailand. In April he came back at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London when he soundly outpointed Arslanbek Makhmudov.

He decided he wanted his own additional warm-up in July and boxed Mariusz Wach in Thailand in a non-TV bout, eventually stopping the veteran after seven rounds.
