‘Himekishi-sama no Himo’ Unveils Additional Cast, First Promo, Theme Songs

The Dengeki Bunko Autumn Festival Online 2026 event unveiled three additional cast, a key visual (pictured), theme songs and the first promotional video for the television anime adaptation of Tooru Shirogane‘s Himekishi-sama no Himo (The Kept Man of the Princess Knight). The anime series will premiere in January 2027.

April: Rika Nagae (Sentai Daishikkaku)

Vanessa: Rie Takahashi (Isekai Quartet 3)

Dez: Tetsu Inada (Vigilante: Boku no Hero Academia Illegals 2nd Season)

Chihiro Kumano (Unnamed Memory assistant director) is helming the anime at Blade, with Deko Akao (Ragna Crimson) handling the series composition. Hisao Ishii (Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete design assistant) is designing the characters. Taku Iwasaki is handing the music.

MYTH & ROID is performing the opening theme “TRUE-TABOO” which was previewed in the promotional video below, with sajou no hana performing the ending theme “Gika.”

Shirogane began penning the action fantasy story under the Dengeki Bunko imprint in February 2022, with illustrations by Saki Mashima. Kadokawa published the seventh volume on July 10.

A manga adaptation drawn by Key Yang began in September 2022. The third and final volume was released on December 26, 2024.

Chihiro Yamazaki launched a sequel of the manga titled Himekishi-sama no Himo Act 2 on the same website in August 2025. Kadokawa released the first volume on January 27.

Yen Press licensed both the light novel and manga adaptation in 2023. The sixth light novel volume was released on August 11. The third manga volume went on sale on January 6.

The Kept Man of the Princess Knight TV Anime’s Promo Video Reveals Myth & Roid’s Opening Theme – News

Kadokawa revealed at the “Dengeki Bunko Aki no Saiten Online 2026″ livestream event on Saturday the first main promotional video for the television anime adaptation of Toru Shirogane‘s The Kept Man of the Princess Knight (Himekishi-sama no Himo) light novel series. The video reveals and previews MYTH & ROID‘s opening theme song “True-Taboo.”


sajou no hana will perform the ending theme song “Gika” (Flower Head).

The event also revealed a new key visual and more cast members.

The anime will debut in January 2027.

The anime stars Junichi Suwabe as Matthew and Mikako Komatsu as Arwin.

Chihiro Kumano (Eiga Odekake Kozame Tokai no Otomodachi, A Couple of Cuckoos) is directing the series at BLADE. Hisao Ishii (There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless…, In Search of the Lost Future) is designing the characters based on the original light novel designs by Saki Mashima. Deko Akao (After the Rain, Arakawa Under the Bridge) is in charge of series scripts.

The Dungeon City is a wicked place filled with crime, debauchery, and death. Its one shining light is Arwin, the beautiful Crimson Princess Knight. She and her brave party of adventurers descend into the dungeon at the city’s center, seeking a legendary treasure with the power to rebuild the princess’s fallen kingdom. Many yearn to be by her side, but that spot is already taken by Matthew, a man despised by all in town as a cowardly weakling. Everyone thinks he is scum who just spends her hard-earned money on booze, women, and gambling. No one in the city—not even the princess knight— knows what Matthew is truly capable of.

Shirogane’s light novel series reached over 200,000 copies in circulation and won the 28th annual Dengeki Novel Awards grand prize. Kadokawa shipped the seventh novel volume on July 10. Yen Press shipped the sixth volume on August 11.

Keyyang launched a manga adaptation of the light novel series. Kadokawa shipped the third compiled book volume in December 2024. Yen Press publishes the manga in English and shipped the third compiled book volume on January 6.

Japanese cosplay/apparel brand Cospa and the hit anime series Goodbye, Lara revealed on September 17 that the Siga sweatshirt and T-shirt seen in the anime series are coming to life. The merchandise will be available in early December.

Cospa later announced in a press release that the Siga sweatshirt and T-shirts will come in Japanese S to XL sizes and are made of 100% cotton. The Siga sweatshirt is priced at 6,820 yen and the Siga t-shirt at 3,300 yen (about US$43 and US$21, respectively). Both will be available on the online Cospa shop.

The Goodbye, Lara anime series tells a tale like Hans Christian Andersen‘s The Little Mermaid. The story follows a mermaid who makes a forbidden wish to be loved by a human. Following her death, she is reborn 200 years later into modern-day Japan in Lake Biwa, where she learns to adjust in a human world. Lake Biwa is in Shiga Prefecture, which is also where director Takushi Koide‘s hometown is located.

The series started airing on July 5 at 24:30 (effectively July 6 at 12:30 a.m.) on the Tokyo MX channel, before running later that night on BS Asahi and YTV. The anime also ran on AT-X starting on July 6. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired. Goodbye, Lara premiered early at the Anime Central convention on May 15.
