Tokyo Ravens Novelist Kōhei Azano Plans to End Series in 18th Volume (Updated) – News

Author Kōhei Azano stated in his afterword in the 17th Tokyo Ravens light novel volume that he plans to end the series in the next volume. The 17th volume shipped on March 19. Update: The 18th volume, confirmed to be the final volume, will ship in winter 2026.

The school supernatural fantasy light novel series centers around Harutora, a boy from a branch of the Tsuchimikado family of onmyōdō occult practitioners. However, he lacks the ability to see spirit energy, so he is now just an ordinary high school student. Natsume, a girl who was Harutora’s childhood friend and the next head of the Tsuchimikado family, reunites with Harutora and changes his future.

Azano launched the Tokyo Ravens light novel series in May 2010 with illustrations by Sumihei. The light novel series inspired a 24-episode television anime in 2013. FUNimation Entertainment streamed the series as it aired in Japan, and also released the series on home video in North America.

Atsushi Suzumi (Venus Versus Virus, Nightmare Go Round) launched a manga adaptation in Kadokawa‘s Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine in 2010, and ended it in July 2017. Kadokawa published the manga’s 15th and final compiled book volume in September 2017.

Other manga adaptations of the Tokyo Ravens light novels include Tokyo Ravens: Tokyo Fox, Tokyo Ravens: Sword of Song, Tokyo Ravens: Red and White, Tokyo Ravens: ANOTHER×holiday, and Tokyo Ravens: Girls Photograph.

‘Honzuki no Gekokujou: Ryoushu no Youjo’ Gets Sequel TV Anime

The 24th and final episode of Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen: Ryoushu no Youjo (Ascendance of a Bookworm: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke) ended with an announcement on Saturday that a sequel television anime adaptation is in production. The sequel anime, which adapts the fourth part of Miya Kazuki‘s Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen (Ascendance of a Bookworm: I’ll do Anything to Become a Librarian!) light novel, subtitled Kizoku-in no Jishou Tosho Iin, is being produced by WIT Studio.

The anime series produced by Ajia-Do aired across three seasons in Fall 2019, Spring 2020, and Spring 2022. A side story original video anime was bundled with the 22nd volume in March 2020. The fourth season was produced by WIT Studio and aired on April 4. Crunchyroll simulcast the show with subtitles and subsequently began streaming an English dub. Sentai Filmworks licensed the first two seasons and released them on home video in January 2021.

Honzuki no Gekokujou adapts Miya Kazuki’s fantasy slice of life light novel series, which she penned on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website from September 2013 to March 2017. TO Books began publishing the novel featuring illustrations by You Shiina (Sakurada Reset) in January 2015. The 33rd volume shipped in December 2023.

Suzuka serialized a manga adaptation of the light novel’s first part on the Comic Corona web magazine from October 2015 to July 2018. The second part began in the same magazine in September of that year and had thirteen volumes in print as of September 2025.

Ryou Namino launched the third part in April 2018, and Hikaru Katsuki began drawing the fourth part in December 2020. he 12th volume of the fourth part of the manga was published on April 15.

Ascendance of a Bookworm Novels’ Part 4 Gets TV Anime From Wit Studio – News

The staff for the anime of Miya Kazuki‘s Ascendance of a Bookworm (Honzuki no Gekokujō – Shisho ni Naru Tame niwa Shudan o Erandeiramasen) light novel series announced on Saturday that the novels’ part 4, Founder of the Royal Academy’s So-Called Library Committee (Kizoku-in no Jishō Tosho Iin), will receive a television anime. Wit Studio is once again animating for Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 4: Founder of the Royal Academy’s So-Called Library Committee.

The Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 3: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke anime premiered on April 4 on the Yomiuri TV and NTV channels at 5:30 p.m. JST (4:30 a.m. EDT), and ended on Saturday. The anime aired across two consecutive cours for a half-year run. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime with English subtitles and an English dub.

Yuka Iguchi and Show Hayami returned in the Part 3 anime as Rozemyne (previously Myne) and Ferdinand, respectively. The anime’s new cast members included:

Yoshiaki Iwasaki (Kowloon Generic Romance, Hayate the Combat Butler, We Never Learn: BOKUBEN) directed the Part 3 anime at Wit Studio, replacing the franchise‘s previous director Mitsuru Hongō. Mariko Kunisawa returned to write the series scripts, and Aiko Minowa (After the Rain, The Ancient Magus’ Bride in-between animation) was the new character designer. MICHIRU returned to compose the music.

The first anime season premiered in October 2019, and ended in December 2019 with 14 episodes. The second season premiered in Japan in April 2020. The anime’s third season premiered in April 2022. Crunchyroll streamed all three seasons as they aired.

Kazuki began the original novels on the “Shōsetsuka ni Narō” website in 2013, and ended the web novel in 2017. You Shiina illustrates the print edition. The main series ended with its 33rd volume (volume 12 of part 5) in December 2023. The novel series now has over 13 million copies in circulation (including digital copies).

J-Novel Club is releasing both the light novels and some of the various manga adaptations in English.

‘Because I, the True Saint, was Banished, that Country is Done For!’ TV Anime Reveals January 2027 Debut in Video – News

Bandai Namco Filmworks revealed a teaser promotional video on Saturday for the television anime of Shikiso Utsuzawa‘s Because I, the True Saint, was Banished, that Country is Done For! (Shin no Seijo de Aru Watashi wa Tsuihō Saremashita. Dakara Kono Kuni wa Mō Owari Desu) light novel series. The video reveals the anime will debut in January 2027. The  video also reveals that Kanako Hara (Blue Orchestra TV 2, A Destructive God Sits Next to Me) is composing the music.

The anime will star Masumi Tazawa as Elian and Taku Yashiro as Nigel.

Tsukasa Sakurai (The Disastrous Life of Saiki K., Golden Time, Little Witch Academia episode animation director) is directing the anime at Tsumugi Akita Anime Lab. Naoki Tozuka (I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince two seasons, Meiji Gekken: 1874) is in charge of series scripts, and Naru Nishikōri (I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince two seasons, Meiji Gekken: 1874) is designing the characters.

Kodansha USA Publishing started releasing Matsu’s manga adaptation in English digitally in 2024. Kodansha USA describes the story:

Ever since she was a child, Eliane has been the saint and protector of the Kingdom of Belkheim, warding off monsters and ensuring bountiful harvests with her prayers. But when a pretender saint beguiles the foolish prince—to whom she is engaged—into believing she is nothing but a fraud, he calls off the marriage and banishes her from the kingdom. Homeless and penniless but free to chart her own course for the first time in her life, Eliane decides to make for the neighboring kingdom, where she hopes to blend in as a commoner and lead a quiet life…but a chance encounter on the road will totally upend her modest plans.

Utsuzawa launched the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in June 2020. Kodansha began publishing the light novels with illustrations by Pukyunosuke in January 2021. The seventh volume shipped in Japan in December 2024.

Mokuba Matsu‘s manga adaptation debuted April 2021 in Kodansha‘s Palcy app. Kodansha released the manga’s 13th compiled book volume on July 30. K MANGA is also publishing the manga in English.
