Robby Hoffman Sets New Netflix Special
Comedian Robby Hoffman is set to return to Netflix next year with a second hour-long special.
This follows Wake Up, her hour directed by John Mulaney that released globally last December.
It’s early days here; there are no other details available yet on the special. Netflix is clearly high on Hoffman, which previously had her showcasing on Verified Stand-Up, writing on Workin’ Moms, dropping in on Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney, and headlining Netflix Is a Joke Fest.
Named one of Deadline’s Comics Who Won 2025, Hoffman is a queer ex-Hasidic comic from Brooklyn, beloved for her intense, direct comedic style. An Emmy-nominated actor and Emmy-winning writer, she made waves with a standout role on HBO Max’s Hacks and has also been seen on HBO’s Rooster, opposite Steve Carell, and FX’s Dying for Sex opposite Michelle Williams.
Hoffman began her career as a writer, earning a 2019 Daytime Emmy for her work on the PBS series Odd Squad before going on to work on series like Workin’ Moms, Baroness Von Sketch Show, and The Chris Gethard Show. She debuted her first critically acclaimed special, I’m Nervous, on CraveTV in 2019.
Hoffman hosts the podcast Too Far with Robby Hoffman and is currently developing an HBO series called UnEntitled, where she’ll serve as writer, exec producer and star. She is repped by UTA, OPE Partners, and Schreck Rose Dapello.

Trump DOJ Launches Investigation Of Networks For Suspending TV Pool
The Justice Department has launched an investigation of the five major networks that make up the White House TV pool, a probe focused on whether they violated antitrust laws by suspending participation in protest of Donald Trump‘s ban on CNN.
Emily Covington, a spokesperson for the Justice Department, said in a statement, “Members of the television press pool have boycotted covering White House events. Group boycotts among commercial competitors can violate the Sherman Act. The Antitrust Division is simply investigating to determine whether these news organizations have violated the antitrust laws.” The New York Times first reported on the investigation.
After Trump announced his ban on CNN, Politico and MS NOW from the White House grounds on Sept. 18, CNN also was restricted from the TV pool. As part of a long-running arrangement, CNN, CBS News, ABC News, NBC News and Fox News rotate assignments, providing technical, video and reporting coverage of the president that then is distributed to other networks.
After the CNN freeze out, the other members of the TV pool jointly announced on Sept. 21 that they would suspend their participation.
“The public has a vital interest in receiving accurate, independent information about its government. No administration should restrict a news organization because it objects to its reporting,” the five networks said in a statement at the time.
The suspension lasted for about four days, but it came during the White House visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping. That meant that there was a paucity of video coverage of major ceremonies and other events.
ABC confirmed that it has not received any notification of the investigation but it expects to. Other networks in the pool did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The White House has continued to restrict CNN from certain assignments, including flying on Air Force One on presidential trip.
More to come.

‘Blade Runner 2099’ Trailer: Hunter Schafer & Michelle Yeoh Team Up
Nearly 45 years later, a new Blade Runner is back to make the Ridley Scott franchise “more human than human” once again.
On Saturday at New York Comic-Con, Prime Video released key art and a new trailer for the eight-episode limited series created by Silka Luisa with Amazon MGM Studios and Alcon Television Group, premiering in full Nov. 25 on the streamer.
Set 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, Los Angeles has been reborn, just not by humanity. Cora (Hunter Schafer), a fugitive in a final bid to stop running, takes on one last identity: a Blade Runner. Forced to partner with Olwen (Michelle Yeoh), a Replicant days from dying, she hunts down a runaway hiding a truth that could collapse a fragile city.
Luisa, Yeoh and Schafer took the stage at Prime Video’s NYCC panel on Sunday, along with cast members Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben and Matthew Needham, as well as executive producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.
The series also stars Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Tom Burke and Maurizio Lombardi.
Luisa serves as showrunner, creator and executive producer. Additional EPs include Ridley Scott, Alcon Entertainment co-founders Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, Alcon’s President of Television Ben Roberts, Steven Johnson, David W. Zucker and Clayton Krueger from Scott Free Productions, Richard Sharkey, Tom Spezialy, Michael Green, Cynthia Yorkin, Frank Giustra, Tim Gable, Isa Dick Hackett and Jonathan van Tulleken, who directed the first two episodes.
Directed by Scott, the original Blade Runner premiered in 1982, starring Harrison Ford and Sean Young. In 2017, Ford reprised his role as Rick Deckard in Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049, starring alongside Ryan Gosling.

‘In a Violent Nature: Part 2’ Gets Valentine’s 2027 Premiere Date
Johnny is back for more first-person POV blood and carnage as Chris Nash‘s In a Violent Nature: Part 2 heads to theaters in 2027.
On Saturday at New York Comic-Con, Johnny actor Ry Barrett announced that the Independent Film Company/Shudder slasher sequel will premiere on Feb. 12, 2027, following the original’s breakout at Sundance’s Midnight program in 2024.
In a Violent Nature: Part 2 picks up where the first left off as Johnny (Barrett) continues his violent rampage at an Ottawa summer camp, where a young outcast camper is forced to spend the night with his counselor sister and her friends at their annual end-of-season party.
Following the original movie’s unique approach to the slasher genre that put the audience in the killer’s perspective, the sequel will expand on Johnny’s lore and deliver more brutally extreme and creative kills.
The sequel, which made its world premiere last month at Fantastic Fest, is co-directed by Nate Wilson and Chris Nash, who also penned the script. The film is produced by Peter Kuplowsky, Shannon Hanmer and Nash.
