Nintendo Drops Ocarina of Time Overview Trailer, Opens Pre-Orders for November 5 Switch 2 Launch

Nintendo has dropped a brand-new overview trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, confirming that the beloved classic is being rebuilt from the ground up for Nintendo Switch 2. Pre-orders are open now, and the game launches on November 5, 2026, giving fans just weeks to get their copies locked in.

Built From the Ground Up for Switch 2

The new overview trailer takes viewers on a full tour of the reimagined Hyrule. Link’s journey plays out across dungeon exploration, clever puzzle-solving, monster battles, and quiet moments with the Ocarina itself, all presented with visuals rebuilt specifically for Nintendo’s new hardware. This is no quick remaster — Nintendo describes the project as built from the ground up for the Switch 2.

The release continues Nintendo’s strong support for the new console, arriving after Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, which served as a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Ocarina of Time now gives Switch 2 owners a chance to replay the adventure that started so much of it all, looking better than ever.

ZELDA NOTES Support and New amiibo

Alongside the game, Nintendo confirmed support for ZELDA NOTES, a game-specific service available through the Nintendo Switch App on smart devices. The companion service should give players extra ways to track and share their journey through Hyrule while away from the console.

Two new amiibo figures are also on the way to celebrate the release. Tapping them in-game will grant special masks for Link to wear, and compatible amiibo from the wider Zelda series will hand out helpful items for the adventure. Collectors will want to watch for pre-orders on those as well.

A Legend That Defined 3D Adventure

Originally released on the Nintendo 64 in Japan in November 1998, Ocarina of Time is widely regarded as one of the most influential games ever made. Directed by Eiji Aonuma and Yoshiaki Koizumi under producer Shigeru Miyamoto, it pioneered mechanics that became standard across 3D action-adventure titles — from lock-on targeting to context-sensitive actions and cinematic storytelling in a 3D world.

The story follows Link as he travels between childhood and adulthood to stop Ganondorf from claiming the Triforce and plunging Hyrule into darkness. Praised for its world design, gameplay, and unforgettable music, the game has sold more than 14 million copies across the original and the 2011 Nintendo 3DS remake, and it routinely tops lists of the greatest video games of all time.

With a fresh trailer, pre-orders live, and a November 5 launch date, the countdown to Hyrule’s most famous adventure is officially on. Whether you’re returning or playing for the first time, this is one launch worth circling on the calendar.
