If you have been playing GTA 5 on borrowed time, the clock is officially running out. Sony has confirmed that GTA 5 and GTA Online will leave the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on November 17 — just two days before GTA 6 launches on November 19. Get your Los Santos hours in now or lose them forever.

The warning has been popping up directly on PS5 consoles. Sony’s message reads like a sales pitch wrapped in a eulogy: “If you’re counting down the days until GTA 6 arrives on PS5 on November 19, why not take a trip to Los Santos in the meantime?” The game is available to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members, but only until November 17 — then it is gone from the catalog.
The message is followed by a prompt to preorder GTA 6, which tells you everything about how massive Rockstar’s sequel is expected to be. Sony is actively converting GTA 5’s subscription audience into GTA 6 buyers at the exact moment of maximum hype.
230 Million Copies and Counting
GTA 5 has sold an eye-watering 230 million copies since its 2013 launch, making it one of the best-selling games of all time. Realistically, most players who ever wanted to experience Franklin, Michael and Trevor’s story already own it. But for the curious few who only ever played via PS Plus, November 17 is the hard deadline — buy it, finish it, or start fresh in Vice City without closure.
The Two-Day Gap Is No Accident
Pulling GTA 5 exactly two days before GTA 6’s release is pure theater. Rockstar and Sony want zero ambiguity: one era ends, the next begins. Whether you have unfinished business in Los Santos or want one last drive before Jason and Lucia take over Vice City, the time is now.
