Chris Sutton Takes on Boxer Fabio Wardley in Week 7 Premier League Predictions

The pressure is mounting on Manchester United boss Michael Carrick, but can United turn things around against rivals Leeds on Saturday? BBC football expert Chris Sutton does not fancy their chances at all — and this week he is being challenged by a very special guest. (Credits: BBC Sport)

For week seven of his predictions battle, Sutton takes on Fabio Wardley, the former heavyweight boxing world champion and lifelong Ipswich Town fan. The twist? Wardley has his own massive fight to worry about.

Sutton Rules Out United as Underdogs

Sutton pulled no punches on the weekend’s headline fixture. “I cannot remember the last time Leeds were seen as favourites going into this fixture but I don’t fancy Manchester United’s chances at all,” he said. “Leeds are just a much more rounded team. Their fans must be relishing this game.”

The BBC expert is predicting all 380 Premier League games this season, competing against AI, BBC Sport readers and a rotating cast of guests.

Wardley’s Double Duty: Predictions and a Title Rematch

Wardley can reclaim his WBO heavyweight title when he faces Daniel Dubois at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday night — a rematch of their thriller in May, when Dubois stopped him in the 11th round to take the crown. The fight airs live on DAZN.

Wardley took Sutton on before that first fight too, and the banter is already back. “I beat Fabio last time — he’s from Ipswich so he doesn’t stand a chance of beating me,” Sutton joked. “But good luck to him on Saturday night… he’s got a better chance against Dubois than he has against me.”

Wardley, meanwhile, had praise for his beloved Ipswich, newly promoted and already boasting three wins from six games. “Winning like that proves the team have got character,” he said. “The boys are showing a lot of resilience and we are going to need it this season.”
