The drama follows Hyeok Jun (Lee Jae Wook), a young man crushed under a mountain of debt. Desperate for a way out, he stumbles across the Spider Staffing Agency — a strange employment service offering part-time gigs that pay 50 times the usual hourly wage, with rates starting at 10 times minimum wage. It sounds too good to be true, because it is.
A Paycheck You Might Not Survive to Spend
The trailer shows Hyeok Jun sensing something deeply off about his suspiciously lucrative gig, and his instincts prove right: he’s thrown into a surreal, terrifying workplace filled with horrors he could never have imagined. Every shift becomes a fight for his life — yet the money is so good he keeps coming back, night after nightmare.
Adding to the mystery is Yeon Ju (Go Min Si), who approaches Hyeok Jun with a cryptic question: aren’t you curious about what the Spider Staffing Agency really does? Meanwhile, Hyeok Jun’s tough younger sister Ji Yun (Kim Min Ha) starts digging into the agency herself, confronting its chilling head (played by Lee Hee Joon) to find out what happened to her brother.
The Boss’s Chilling Take
Over a montage of strange, life-threatening phenomena, the agency boss dismisses it all in voice-over: “What do you mean, a nightmare? It was a part-time job. A sweet gig, at that.”
With its debt-horror premise, fantasy-thriller energy, and a cast stacked with fan favorites, “Dead-End Job” looks like Netflix’s next must-watch Korean genre binge. The trailer is out now with English subtitles — and Hyeok Jun’s gig economy from hell might just be the scariest workplace drama of the year.
