CMLL has announced a change to its Amazonas Grand Prix field: Marina Shafir will step in to replace Shotzi on Team World in the international women’s tournament.
The announcement came via CMLL’s official channels, with the lucha libre promotion billing Shafir as a formidable addition to the international contingent — the AEW star brings a legitimate mixed martial arts background and an aggressive combat style to the tournament.
Shafir Strengthens Team World
Team World draws talent from across the globe, with the announced field including Masha Slamovich (Russia), Emersyn Jayne (United Kingdom), Alice Crowley (Canada), Harley Cameron (Australia), Queen Aminata (Guinea), Megan Bayne (USA), Tessa Blanchard (USA), and Thunder Rosa (Mexico), alongside representatives from Japan and Mexico.
Shafir, listed under Moldavia in the lineup, slots into Shotzi’s spot on the international side. No reason has been given for the change.
A Global Women’s Showcase
The Amazonas Grand Prix continues CMLL’s push to spotlight women’s wrestling on a world stage, running parallel to the ongoing Amazonas Universal Championship picture. With Shafir’s legitimate fighting credentials added to an already stacked field, Team World just got a lot more dangerous.
