Miley Cyrus is done staying quiet. At her second Hollywood Bowl show on Sunday night, the singer fired back at “clickbait” critics of her Friday comeback concert — and revealed she almost didn’t take the stage at all.

Cyrus returned to the Bowl on Friday, October 16, for her first major live show in four years and nearly a decade since her last full world tour. Some online commentary accused her of not being fully invested — not singing every word, and letting the crowd carry parts of songs like “Party in the USA” and “Flowers.”

Addressing the audience in a fan-captured speech, Cyrus dismissed the commentary as clickbait she wasn’t going to entertain. She acknowledged that controversy “used to be a lot of fun,” but admitted the hard-living era left her not really enjoying life — and that she now loves pouring herself into her work instead.

Returning to the Stage Took Courage

The 33-year-old was candid about how difficult performing has become: “It is hard for me to stand up here and do this show,” she said, explaining that it no longer comes as naturally as it once did. She framed the two Bowl shows not as an experiment on the audience but as an experience for herself — a way to test her limits and see what still fits as she grows. The shows also carried emotional weight as her first performances since the death of her beloved “Aunt Dolly” Parton in August.
