Welsh & Shedar Anime Trailer Reveals Free Worldwide YouTube Stream With English and French Dubs on November 5

French company Ankama will stream its original TV anime Aoki Denshō Welsh & Shedar (The Azure Legend: Welsh & Shedar) for free worldwide on its new YouTube channel Krosmoz, starting November 5. The series will launch with dubs in English, Japanese, and French, plus subtitles in English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese.

A new trailer revealed the surprise streaming plan. Episode 2 follows on November 6, with new episodes debuting weekly on the channel — an unusually accessible global release for a TV anime that premiered in Japan just weeks ago, on October 2 on Tokyo MX.

A Cross-Cultural Fantasy

The story follows Welsh, a country boy, and Shedar, a prince destined to become king. Though born into different stations, the two boys’ fates intertwine as they take a stand against a tyrant’s plot to conquer the world.

Naoki Horiuchi — an episode director on Kingdom’s second season, Black Clover, and Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song — directs at Studio Massket. Character design comes from Saori Nakashiki (Sasaki and Peeps, Tales of Wedding Rings), who also serves as one of three chief animation directors alongside Yoshiaki Tsubata and Yuki Ikeda.

The music lineup is star-studded by anime standards: Hironobu Kageyama and Masami Okui perform the opening theme “Bokura no Mirai e” (To Our Future), Kageyama sings the ending “Omelette,” and Kageyama with KUKO performs the insert song “I’m in you.” Tot, creator of the DOFUS universe, is credited for the original work, scripts, and series outline.

Ankama’s Anime Ambitions

Ankama is best known as an independent French entertainment group behind the tactical MMORPG DOFUS, launched in 2004 — a game with deep anime-adjacent roots that already spawned the Wakfu animated series. The company has also published manga in French, including Atsushi Kaneko’s SOIL.

With Welsh & Shedar, Ankama is betting that a free, multi-language, global YouTube rollout can cut through a crowded fall anime season — no subscription required.
