Fans of TXT are furious at BIGHIT MUSIC and parent company HYBE, accusing the label of staying silent while alleged explicit deepfake images of leader Soobin spread online — and instead pushing ahead with the group’s comeback promotions.
The controversy began around October 19, when alleged “explicit gay deepfake” photos said to be of Soobin started circulating on social media. Fans have attempted to debunk the claims, and an influencer also spoke vaguely about the incident, claiming the images were screenshots from a video and implying a longer relationship — without naming Soobin.
Since then, fans have waited for BIGHIT MUSIC to respond with legal action or even a statement. Instead, the company’s official accounts kept updating with “Perfect Storm” comeback material — the new release announced in late September. Those updates continued after the claims broke, including a release schedule post on October 21 urging fans to pre-save the album.
Fans Demand a Legal Response, Not Promotions
The apparent business-as-usual approach set off a wave of anger. One viral fan post read: “No, BigHit, this is not the time to be posting things like this… It’s not just anything else — it’s the artist who is the victim here.” Others demanded a legal action notice first: “The very person you’re promoting right now is being torn apart, trampled on, and practically destroyed socially, and you’re just sitting here trying to sell albums?”
Many posts are using boycott hashtags aimed at both BIGHIT MUSIC and HYBE, alongside #Protect_Artists, with fans arguing that continued promotion without addressing the allegations only lets the situation build. “Your artist is human, not a tool,” one fan wrote.
Deepfake imagery targeting idols has become a persistent industry problem, and fanbases increasingly expect agencies to respond with swift legal announcements rather than silence. So far, neither BIGHIT MUSIC nor HYBE has issued a public statement on the Soobin claims — and every new “Perfect Storm” teaser risks turning up the heat further.
