Crunchyroll has pulled back the curtain on the English dub cast for the Horror Collector anime, just in time for the dub’s debut on Saturday, October 24. The television anime, adapted from Midori Sato’s long-running Kyo-fu Collector novel series, will finally let English-speaking fans hear the boy in the red hood speak.

Horror Collector English Dub Cast and October 24 Premiere
The first episode’s English dub stars Brandon Allan Majella, Larry Brantley, and Rebecca Danae, among others. Behind the scenes, Justin Cook, Michael Harcourt, and Nathanael Harrison serve as studio producers, with talent coordination from Tara A. Williams and Brittni Hurley, and engineering from Gino Palencia and Brandon Peters. Crunchyroll announced the dub on Friday, and it will begin streaming on Saturday, alongside the ongoing subtitled simulcast.
What the Anime Is About
The Horror Collector anime debuted on NHK on October 10, and Crunchyroll is streaming it as it airs in Japan. Directed by Yuki Inaba at Studio Palette — with series composition also handled by Inaba — the show adapts a novel series that has been terrifying middle-grade readers since Kadokawa began publishing it in June 2015. The 29th volume arrived on October 7, so the franchise is deeper than ever.
For the uninitiated, the story follows a mysterious boy in a red hood who roams from town to town, appearing wherever strange things occur. The internet’s creepypastas, cryptid sightings, and paranormal tales are mostly rumors and pranks — until the unlucky few learn that some legends are true. Yen Press is releasing both the novels and Niko Yuki’s manga adaptation in English under its “JY for Kids” imprint, describing the series as a collision of urban legends and real monsters.
The production team brings solid credentials: Kaori Yoshikawa designs the characters, Masato Koda composes the music, and Tetsuya Gunji serves as audio director. Inaba and Yoshikawa previously collaborated on KamiKatsu: Working for God in a Godless World and the second season of Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World.
Why Horror Fans Should Tune In
With horror anime having a banner year, a weekly NHK series built on creepypasta-style storytelling arrives at exactly the right moment. The English dub launching just two weeks after the Japanese premiere means the show is getting the fast-track treatment — a sign Crunchyroll sees breakout potential in the boy in the red hood. If the dub cast clicks with audiences, this could become one of the season’s sleeper hits.
