Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy were handed real creative control over the October 15 episode of TNA Impact — but not everything played out the way Matt had drawn it up. Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Matt revealed that TNA changed the running order he originally had in mind for the show, including where he wanted The Righteous and The Sicks’ tables match to happen.

TNA changed Matt Hardy’s original creative plans for the October 15 Impact
Matt specifically wanted a tables match as part of the Hardys’ 35th anniversary celebration — an obvious choice given how closely he and Jeff have been associated with tables, ladders and chairs throughout their careers.
“I also wanted to see a tables match. I feel like a tables match is something that, you know, the Hardys are very famous for in this day and age,” Matt said. Once he started thinking about who should actually be in it, he landed on two teams that had caused the Hardys plenty of problems: The Righteous and The Sicks. His logic was simple — let their enemies destroy each other.
Why Matt Hardy wanted the tables match earlier in the show
That is how The Righteous and The Sicks ended up in the tables match, but Matt’s original vision went further than just picking the participants. He wanted the tables match placed right after the opening segment, before the Ryan and Nic Nemeth segment.
“If I would have formatted the show, I would have put that match before the Ryan and Nic segment, I think, because I really like, if you have an opening segment, have a hot match that people are invested in after that,” Matt explained.
Instead, Nic Nemeth vs. Ryan Nemeth aired immediately after the opening segment, while the tables match was pushed later in the show. Matt did not sound upset about the switch, though — he figured there may have been a production reason, since the tables match needed more time than the Nemeth segment, and putting it later may have actually given everyone more room to work with.
