Michael Hayes Reveals He Needs More Surgeries After Hip and Shoulder Replacements

Michael Hayes is not done with the operating table just yet. The WWE producer and Freebirds legend opened up on the latest episode of Stephanie McMahon’s What’s Your Story? podcast, revealing that more surgeries are on the horizon after a string of replacements over the past few years.

“I had the hip replaced in ’20, I had this replaced in ’22, I had this replaced in ’24. I’m so sick of surgeries, and I need more,” Hayes said, adding bluntly, “I’m really sick of the recoveries.”

Michael Hayes on His Bad Shoulder and Hip

Hayes, 67, went into detail about the toll his body has taken. “This shoulder’s really bad,” he said, and later admitted that even the shoulder that was already fixed “ain’t great”, though it is better than it was. He also revealed that his surgically repaired left hip may need another operation, saying he feels it “starting to do the little twinges” and that it is “probably another thing that I got to look forward to in a couple of years”.

Hayes also reflected on his approach to pain management after surgery, saying he never took pain medication and was “never a pill guy”. He credited Diamond Dallas Page’s DDP Yoga program with helping his recovery, alongside a weight loss journey that has seen him drop 50 pounds since starting Wegovy around 14 months ago.

“I started doing DDP Yoga, and man, I’ve dropped 50 pounds, and my mobility is so much better now,” Hayes said. “It’s not the hardest thing in the world to do but you get results from it. It’s hard at first. It’s very hard at first. But once you get into the routine… Dallas has made me my own workouts.”

Elsewhere in the same chat, Hayes revealed that WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque wants to make Bobby Roode his successor in the producer role, a telling detail about the company’s backstage future.
