Directed by Kim Yeong Jo of Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth, the drama tells the story of how the small kingdom of Silla overcame the more powerful kingdoms of Goguryeo and Baekje, as well as China’s Tang dynasty, to unify the Three Kingdoms. The posters capture the tension among four men pursuing their own goals amid the fierce clashes of a turbulent era.
Sword & Silence posters: four heroes, four convictions
Lee Hyun Wook stars as Kim Pom Min, who stares coldly at his enemies with sword raised and blood on his face. His tagline, “I will protect — the guardian who defends Silla,” reflects his determination to protect his people and usher in an era of peace.
Jang Hyuk plays Yeon Gaesomun, exuding charisma in ornate armor with fierce, gleaming eyes. His tagline warns, “You must overcome me to overcome Goguryeo, and no one can overcome me,” foreshadowing his path as an iron-fisted ruler who leads from the front lines.
Kim Kang Woo appears as Kim Chun Chu, tears welling as he confronts the brutal realities of war. The strategist who has navigated countless negotiations declares, “The dream I, Kim Chun Chu, pursue will be the unification of the Three Han states.”
Park Sung Woong embodies the warrior Kim Yu Shin, clad in full armor. His forceful tagline, “Peace will come only when we kill the enemy or die ourselves,” reflects unwavering loyalty to Silla and a determination to defend the nation at all costs.
The production team said the posters were designed to show the true faces of heroes who press forward with their own convictions in turbulent times, and asked viewers to look forward to a story where these figures pursue their goals even as they cross the line between life and death.
Sword & Silence premieres on November 14 at 9:20 p.m. KST.
