Girls’ Generation member Yuri opened up about the reality of going solo after leaving SM Entertainment after 25 years — and her honesty about the adjustment is winning fans over. The idol shared her story on the TEO YouTube channel on October 30.

Yuri, who left SM after more than two decades with the agency, admitted she is now handling everything herself, from the ground up. “There’s really a lot to do,” she said, adding that she is “learning everything from start to finish, and it’s so much fun.”
Yuri on SM Exit: Tax Invoices, Legal Meetings and Learning Everything From Scratch
The candid confession that stood out was how unglamorous the paperwork is. Yuri revealed that she now personally issues tax invoices and meets with legal representatives herself. “I realized there aren’t as many things I can do alone as I thought,” she confessed.
She reflected that before, “there were so many people helping me before I could complete something myself,” and joked that even though she’s older, she sometimes feels immature — “I don’t even really know what I like.”
But the change has also shifted her mindset for the better. Yuri said she now faces her shortcomings as “Kwon Yuri, the human being,” and has learned to be more forgiving of herself — which has made her more forgiving of others. “I’ve come to understand that everyone has their own circumstances,” she added.
Hyorisoo Unit With Hyoyeon and Sooyoung and a 2026 Comeback Tease
Yuri also spoke about the unit group Hyorisoo, formed with fellow SNSD members Hyoyeon and Sooyoung, and thanked fans for their passionate response. “It’s amazing and surprising that so much interest is being shown,” she said.
She laughed about their unscripted stage chemistry, saying they didn’t prepare personal fancams or ending-fairy poses in advance — “we just pushed each other on stage and fought for spots.” Apparently, junior idols saw it and told Sooyoung they were jealous of seniors who could be so free on stage.
Looking ahead, Yuri teased that next year could bring bigger things for the full group, noting that 2026 marks Girls’ Generation’s 20th debut anniversary. “It’s been a while since I stood on stage,” she said, “so I think there will be opportunities to perform.”
