Apple’s M6 MacBook Pro is now available for pre-order — and Amazon is answering with a wild clearance deal on the model it replaces. The base 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro is down to $1,349.99 shipped, a massive $650 off its list price.

M5 MacBook Pro clearance deal: the lowest price ever tracked
This configuration — the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 chip, 16GB of unified memory and a 1TB SSD — carried a $1,999 list price before Apple replaced it with the M6 variant. According to 9to5Toys, it never dropped below $1,499 even before a mid-year price increase, so the $1,349.99 price is the lowest ever tracked on this configuration.
The price drop follows Apple jacking up MSRPs across its then-current lineup in late June, which pushed this model’s list price from $1,699 up to $1,999. This clearance deal wipes all of that out and then some.
Who should grab it — and who should skip it
As 9to5Toys notes, this is one of the best MacBook Pro deals seen in the last year for just about anyone who doesn’t need the upgraded configs or the new M6 model. The one caveat: 9to5Toys warns they don’t know how long the clearance price will last, and clearance stock on replaced models can disappear very quickly.
If you want the latest hardware, the new M6 MacBook Pro, M6 iMac and MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display are all available for pre-order. But if you’re after maximum value, $650 off the most affordable Pro is hard to beat.
