Alien: Isolation 2 will launch in 2027 as a pure survival horror experience, with creative director Al Hope telling IGN at Lucca Comics and Games that the team never considered taking the sequel in another genre.
The 2014 original turned a single xenomorph into one of gaming’s most relentless monsters — and Creative Assembly says that formula still has plenty to offer, even 12 years later.

Back to What Made One Alien Terrifying
“We feel like there’s still so much to mine or tap into in the universe of that first movie,” Hope told IGN. “In Alien: Isolation 2, I think the promise is about transporting you back to that time and place, that window of the timeline where just one alien can be absolutely terrifying and an incredible challenge, an incredible experience.”
The sequel trades the corridors of Sevastopol Station for the planetary outpost of Kurosaki. You play Blake, a Weyland-Yutani employee who has never encountered the creature — a deliberate choice that puts a fresh face in the xenomorph’s crosshairs.
New Protagonist Blake, Same Fear
Hope confirmed that Amanda Ripley remains part of the sequel’s world, but “to be clear, you’re playing as a new character in Isolation 2.” Project art director Ana Sopikova added that the sequel also opens up the world beyond interiors — including going outside, where the rules of hiding change fast.
Hope has apparently been sitting on sequel ideas for years: “I’d always wanted to make a sequel, so much so that I’d been just thinking about what that could be even before we finished the first game.”
Alien: Isolation 2 launches in 2027 from Creative Assembly. The full interview also touches on xenomorph design, the save stations’ cameo in Alien: Romulus, and whether the games count as official Alien canon.
