James Acaster is setting the record straight about his time on The Celebrity Traitors, rejecting a report that he complained about his fellow contestants as “completely fabricated.”

A few weeks ago, the Daily Mail claimed the comedian had “complained to producers” that he was being teased by fellow players — and fellow comedians — Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan — and was made “uncomfortable” by their “macho banter” during filming.

Speaking on Monday on the podcast of Alan Carr — the winner of The Celebrity Traitors’ first series — Acaster pushed back on the story directly, denying that he ever made any complaint to producers about Beckett or Ranganathan.

The denial puts the rumor to rest from the horse’s mouth: whatever happened between the three comics during filming, Acaster says the version reported by the Daily Mail simply didn’t happen.

The Celebrity Traitors’ Ratings Triumph

The controversy comes as The Celebrity Traitors continues to ride a wave of success. The finale pulled in 11.23 million BBC viewers, smashing the show’s ratings record and confirming the celebrity edition as a genuine phenomenon.

With that kind of audience, every off-screen rumor gets magnified — and Acaster clearly wanted to make sure this one didn’t stick.
