The Celebrity Traitors bowed out in style on Friday, pulling the biggest TV audience of the year. The Claudia Winkleman-fronted BBC series drew an average overnight audience of 11.23 million viewers for its finale — a new record for the show.
The 80-minute episode topped the previous high of 11 million for last year’s finale, and peaked at 11.6 million viewers as a winner was crowned. It will almost certainly be the biggest TV audience of the year outside of the FIFA World Cup.

Season 2 was not without its difficulties for the BBC and producer Studio Lambert — not least Richard E. Grant unmasking himself as a traitor early in the game. Yet viewers clearly loved the celebrity twist on the betrayal format, and the numbers prove it.
It is a remarkable result for British television in the streaming era: 11.23 million people tuning in live on a Friday night, making The Celebrity Traitors the BBC’s most-watched entertainment launch of the year.
