The 49th issue of Shogakukan’s Big Comic Spirits magazine announced on Monday that Mari Okada and Makoto Ojiro’s Sistar Resistar manga will end in just two chapters. The next chapter runs in the magazine’s 51st issue on November 16 — and if there are no delays, the manga wraps up on November 23.
The series, which launched in September 2024, centers on Akira Nitta, the eldest daughter of a family that once ran an entire idol business: Akira sewed the costumes, her father worked the lights, her younger brother played the music, and her younger sister performed as the idol talent herself.
Sistar Resistar Ending: The Story So Far
Akira wished those idyllic days could last forever, but a series of unfortunate events brought the family dream to an end. Everything changes when Akira, now working as a seamstress, sees footage of an idol performance — and her life begins to turn again.
Shogakukan published the manga’s fourth compiled book volume on August 28, and the fifth volume arrives on January 29. Okada is best known for emotionally charged anime like anohana, Toradora! and O Maidens in Your Savage Season, while Ojiro created the beloved Insomniacs After School — which ran from May 2019 to August 2023, got an anime adaptation in April 2023, and is licensed in English by Viz Media. Their collaboration was an unusual pairing; fans have just two chapters left to see how it lands.
