Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Global Release Times Confirmed — How to Play Early on Switch 2

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is just days away, and the global release times are now clear — so you can plan exactly when the Switch 2 exclusive unlocks in your timezone.

The remake is expected to launch at midnight local time on November 5, following Nintendo’s usual pattern for its big releases. That means in North America, it goes live at 12am ET on November 5 — or 9pm PT on November 4 for west coast players.

How to Play Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake Early

Impatient players can use the classic New Zealand trick: because the game unlocks at midnight local time, a Nintendo Account linked to the New Zealand region gets access a full day earlier for North American players.

But there are caveats. You’ll need a New Zealand Nintendo Account (or a new one), and adding funds requires either a New Zealand credit card or NZ eShop cards — which means you’ll likely pay over the odds compared to the USD price. So the early access costs extra in both money and hassle.

Before you start, make sure your Switch 2 has room: the remake weighs in at 24.5 GB.

Midnight Launches at Nintendo Stores

For old-school launch night vibes, Nintendo has announced in-store events at both Nintendo San Francisco and Nintendo New York, where fans can celebrate the midnight release together.

Meanwhile, IGN has published an extensive hands-on preview plus a full roundup of every change noticed so far compared to the N64 original — and early impressions suggest this is a faithful but noticeably modernized take on the 1998 masterpiece.
