Masashi Kishimoto to Launch New Naruto Manga – News

The “NARUTO: What’s Next?” panel at New York Comic Con announced on Saturday that Masashi Kishimoto will launch a new manga in his Naruto franchise. The below video teases a possible title: Shadow Rising Naruto (or Naruto Shadow Rising). More details will be revealed at the Jump Festa ’27 event, which will take place on December 19-20.


Kishimoto launched the Naruto ninja manga in Shueisha‘s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1999, and ended the series in November 2014. The manga has spawned the Naruto and Naruto Shippūden television anime series, original video anime (OVA) projects, several anime films, spinoff manga, the Boruto sequel manga and anime series, a series of novels, stage plays, and video games.

Manga storywriter Ukyō Kodachi and Mikio Ikemoto launched the Boruto sequel manga in Shueisha‘s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in May 2016, and the manga ran monthly in the magazine. The manga transferred to V Jump in July 2019. Kishimoto replaced Kodachi as the manga’s storywriter in November 2020, starting with the manga’s 52nd chapter.

The manga went on hiatus in April 2023 and returned with the title Boruto: Two Blue Vortex in August 2023. The series is ongoing.

New ‘Naruto’ Manga ‘Shadow Rising’ Announced

The Naruto: What’s Next? panel at New York Comic Con 2026 announced on Saturday that Masashi Kishimoto will launch a new Naruto manga titled Naruto: Shadow Rising, revealing a super teaser announcement video.

The new series is part of Project Rasengan, a three-year timeline of upcoming releases within the Naruto franchise. Currently announced projects include a crossover anime series, a mobile game, and a card game. More information on the new manga will be revealed at Jump Festa 2027.

Kishimoto serialized Naruto in Weekly Shounen Jump from September 1999 to November 2014. Shueisha published the 72th and final volume in February 2015. The manga has a cumulative 250 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, the sequel manga written by Ukyou Kodachi with illustrations by Mikio Ikemoto, began serializing in Weekly Shounen Jump in May 2016, with Kishimoto serving as the supervisor. The manga transferred to V-Jump in 2019 before Kishimoto took over the story in November 2020. The first part concluded in April 2023, with Shueisha publishing the 20th volume in June 2023.

The second part of the manga, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, launched in August 2023, with Kishimoto and Ikemoto serving as writer and illustrator, respectively. Shueisha released the ninth volume on October 2.

The original Naruto television anime aired in 220 episodes from October 2002 to February 2007. The Naruto Shippuden sequel ran for 500 episodes from February 2007 to March 2017.

The sequel manga was adapted into a 293-episode television anime that aired between April 2017 and March 2023. The Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Part 2 sequel anime is currently in production.

VIZ Media licensed the original manga in English in November 2002 and released the 72th volume in February 2015. The company licenced the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga sequel in September 2016. The second part’s sixth volume went on sale on October 2, with the seventh volume planned for a March 2, 2027 release.

‘Naruto x Ninkuu’ Crossover Anime Announced

The “Naruto: What’s Next?” panel at New York Comic Con 2026 announced a brand new four-episode crossover anime based on Masashi Kishimoto‘s Naruto manga and Kouji Kiriyama‘s Ninkuu manga on Saturday. The Naruto franchise’s official website opened a new page, revealing the main cast, staff, theme songs, a teaser visual (pictured above), and teaser promotional video.

Rock band FLOW (Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch) is performing the opening theme “GO!!! (20th Anniversary ver.)” and ending theme “Viva★Rock.”

The anime project is the long-delayed work originally planned to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Naruto television anime. It had been scheduled to air for four consecutive weeks beginning in September 2023, but was postponed in August 2023 to improve production quality.

Kiriyama serialized Ninkuu in Weekly Shounen Jump from June 1993 to August 1995. The sequel, Ninkuu: Second Stage – Etonin-hen, ran in Ultra Jump from September 2025 to September 2011.

Studio Pierrot adapted the original manga into a television anime that aired in 55 episodes from January 1995 to February 1996.

One-Punch Man Season 3 Anime’s 2nd Part Reveals January 2027 Debut in Video – News

Bandai Namco Filmworks revealed in a new trailer on Sunday that the second cours (quarter of a year) of the third anime season based on ONE and Yūsuke Murata‘s One Punch Man manga will debut in January 2027.


Viz Media is streaming an English-subtitled version of the trailer.


Both videos reveal that JAM Project is returning to perform the opening theme song titled “Never Done – SUPREME POWER VS ULTIMATE FEAR -.”

The anime’s website also revealed a new key visual.

The third season premiered with a recap on October 5, 2025. The overall 25th episode of the anime, the first episode in the third season, aired a week later. The anime is streaming on Hulu in the U.S., Disney+ in Canada, and Netflix in Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand. In Latin America and Oceania, Crunchyroll is also streaming the anime.

J.C. Staff is returning from the second season to animate the series. Madhouse animated the first season.

Shinpei Nagai (Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san, DOGEZA: I Tried Asking While Kowtowing.) is directing the anime at J.C. Staff. Tomohiro Suzuki returns from previous seasons to oversee the series scripts. Chikashi Kubota also returns from previous seasons as character designer, but this time alongside Shinjiro Kuroda and Ryōsuke Shirakawa. Sakura Murakami is now the art director (Murakami previously worked on background art for the second season, with Shigemi Ikeda and Yukiko Maruyama previously credited as art directors for the second season). Mayumi Tanahashi returns as color designer from the second season. Yuki Hirose is now the director of photography (replacing Yoshio Ōkouchi from the previous season). Masahiro Gotō, Yoshikazu Iwanami, and Makoto Miyazaki all return from the second season as editor, sound director, and music composer, respectively.

JAM Project with metal group BABYMETAL performed the opening theme song “Get No Satisfied!,” and Makoto Furukawa performed the ending theme song “Soko ni Aru Akari” (“The Light, That’s There”) for the first cours. 

The first anime season aired in Japan from October to December 2015.

The second season began with a television special in April 2019, then the first episode premiered one week later.
