AJ Francis has never been shy about speaking his mind, and now the former WWE Superstar is taking aim at how TNA used to be run. Speaking on The Wrestling Classic, Francis accused the company’s old management of giving championships to the wrong people — while praising current president Carlos Silva as the best boss he has ever worked for.

Asked how TNA has changed since he joined and how its move to AMC has affected the promotion, Francis immediately pointed to the difference in leadership. He said the previous administration relied too heavily on “oldtimey pro wrestling” thinking, while Silva has brought a completely different approach.

Credits Silva With the AMC TV Deal

Francis defended Silva against critics who have questioned his leadership, arguing that outsiders don’t see what the president has done behind the scenes. “Carlos is the reason we got a TV deal,” Francis said. “We’re on AMC because of the work of Carlos. That’s huge, right?”

He went further, calling Silva his “favorite boss I ever worked for,” and said being able to communicate with him directly has been a massive improvement. “Having him at the helm has been such a big help, such an improvement,” Francis added.

Titles Went to the Wrong People

The biggest shot came when Francis explained how championship decisions used to be made. He argued that wrestlers who had put in the work were sometimes passed over in favor of newer talent who hadn’t accomplished nearly as much.

“The old wrestling leadership style would be like, ‘Well, he’s still got a lot to prove, but let’s put a title on this guy who’s been here six months who nobody gives a shit about,’” Francis said. “That’s the old wrestling style, right? And Carlos, Carlos recognizes what’s in front of his face.”

Francis believes Silva approaches wrestling more like a legitimate sports organization, and that the new approach could finally benefit him. “It’s a damn shame that it’s been two years since I’ve been a champion in TNA,” he said. “And Carlos recognizes that, right?”

While Francis didn’t name any specific wrestlers he felt were unfairly pushed ahead of him, his message was clear: he believes he has spent enough time building stories, helping opponents, and proving himself. And he’s not hiding his ambition — Francis made the case that he should eventually become TNA World Champion.
