About Though I Am an Inept Villainess
Set in a kingdom inspired by historical China, the series follows the frail and beautiful Kou Reirin — the “butterfly” of the imperial court, a shoo-in to marry the crown prince — who gets body-swapped with the “court rat” Shu Keigetsu after a violent confrontation at the Lantern Festival. The anime is directed by Mitsue Yamazaki at Doga Kobo, with series scripts by Yoshiko Nakamura and character designs by Ai Kikuchi. It premiered July 12 on TV Tokyo, streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix Asia, with an English dub debuting July 25.
Seven Seas publishes the novels and manga in English as Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court. The light novel series entered its final arc with its 13th volume on September 30.
