Vincent Kompany Collapse: What the Club Said

In an official statement, the Bundesliga club confirmed the scare: “Vincent Kompany had to seek medical treatment on Friday after collapsing during training for FC Bayern’s amateurs,” it said, noting that the first-team coach had been watching the second team’s session when it happened.

“Kompany will undergo thorough examination in the hospital and remain in medical care,” the statement continued. “For the time being, his coaching staff will manage training and match operations.”

Kompany Missed Arsenal Press Conference With Virus

The incident follows a week of illness for the Bayern boss. Kompany missed the pre-match news conference on Tuesday ahead of Bayern’s Champions League clash with Arsenal because he was suffering from a virus, though he still took his place on the touchline for the match itself.

Kompany was appointed Bayern Munich manager in May 2024, and his coaching staff will now oversee preparations for Bayern’s next game, a Bundesliga trip to Freiburg on Sunday. Everyone at the club will be hoping for good news from the hospital in the coming days.
