According to Mike Johnson at PWInsider, “Bruce Prichard is expected to retire from his position as Executive Director – Creative Writing & Talent (CWT) after WrestleMania season.” The report adds that Prichard would remain connected to WWE on a consulting basis, but would no longer live in Stamford or retain his current duties — though there could be some leeway with the exact timeline.
Bruce Prichard’s Four Decades in WWE
Prichard’s history with WWE stretches back to 1987, when he first joined the company and became known to fans on television as the red-faced preacher character Brother Love. Behind the scenes, he has held a string of roles across multiple eras of the company, working on and off with WWE for nearly four decades.
He returned to the company as executive director in 2018, a role in which he has worked alongside both Vince McMahon and, in the current era, Triple H, helping to steer the creative direction of WWE’s weekly programming.
What Comes Next for Prichard and WWE
The report also notes that Prichard is set to undergo neck surgery, adding a personal health dimension to the timing of the reported move. Fightful notes that its Fightful Select service will carry more details on Prichard’s future as they become known.
If the report proves accurate, Prichard’s departure would mark the end of one of the longest continuous creative runs in modern WWE, closing a chapter that began with Brother Love in the late 1980s and carried through the company’s biggest modern boom periods. For now, WWE has not publicly confirmed the report, and the timeline remains flexible — but the expectation, per PWInsider, is clear: after WrestleMania season, the executive director’s chair changes hands.
