The staff for the television anime of Kamome Shirahama‘s Witch Hat Atelier manga announced on Tuesday that Nakamura Hak performs the third ending theme song for the anime titled “Hikari” (Light). This is in addition to Hak’s first ending theme song for the anime “Tada Utsukushii Noroi” (Just a Beautiful Curse), and the second ending theme song, “Yoru ni Ukabu” (Float in the Night), which appears in episodes 3 and 5 of the currently airing anime.

Shirahama also drew an illustration (seen below) for the single release of “Tada Utsukushii Noroi,” which will ship on June 10.

Hak’s YouTube channel posted a video of the TV edit version of “Tada Utsukushii Noroi” last week, using footage from the anime, and also posted a similar video of the TV edit version of “Yoru ni Ukabu” on Tuesday.

The manga’s story centers on Coco, a girl who lives in a little village, and who has always dreamed of becoming a wizard. But being born without magical aptitude meant that she could never become a wizard, and could never hope to witness magic’s spark. She gave up on her dream. But one day, a traveling wizard named Qifrey came to her village, and she happened to see him performing magic.

Ayumu Watanabe (Ace Attorney, Doraemon films) is directing the anime at BUG FILMS. Hiroaki Kojima (animation producer for Komi Can’t Communicate) is producing. Kairi Unabara (Pokémon Evolutions) is designing the characters and is also serving as chief animation director. Yuka Kitamura (Elden Ring) is composing the music.

Additional staff members include:

Eve and suis perform the opening theme song “Kaze no Anthem feat. suis from yorushika” (Anthem of Wind).

The anime premiered on April 6 on Tokyo MX and on other channels. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime as it airs, along with an English dub.

Shirahama launched the manga in Kodansha‘s Morning two magazine in July 2016. Kodansha published the manga’s 16th compiled book volume on April 23. Kodansha USA Publishing began releasing the series in English in April 2019.

The series was nominated for the Best Comic award at Angoulême International Comics Festival in January 2019. The manga was also nominated for the 11th Manga Taisho awards in 2018. The series ranked in the top 10 on the list of the best manga for male readers in the 2018 edition of Takarajimasha‘s Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!) guidebook. The manga ranked on American Library Association’s (ALA’s) Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) Top Ten Great Graphic Novels for Teens list in 2020. The series won Best Manga at the Harvey Awards in October 2020, and also won the award in 2025.

The manga has 7 million copies in circulation worldwide.

Sankaku Head Reveals New Himouto! Umaru-chan Manga – News

Published

on

Sankaku Head announced in a livestream on the Niconico streaming service on Saturday that he will launch Umaru-chan 100, a new series in the Himouto! Umaruchan manga, on Shueisha‘s Young Jump+ platform on October 1.

Sankaku Head launched the original Himouto! Umaruchan manga in Shueisha‘s Weekly Young Jump magazine in 2013 (after running an earlier two-chapter Himouto! Umaruchan! version in Miracle Jump in 2012), and ended it in 201. Shueisha shipped the manga’s 12th and final compiled book volume in December 2017. Seven Seas is releasing the manga in English.

The manga also inspired the Akita Imokko! Ebina-chan, Himōto! Umaru-chan S, and Himōto! Umaru-chan SS spinoff manga. Himōto! Umaru-chan SS ended in February 2017, and Akita Imokko! Ebina-chan ended in September 2017. Sankaku Head launched the Himōto! Umaru-chan G manga in Weekly Young Jump in November 2017 immediately after the main manga’s end, and ended it in April 2018.

The main manga inspired a 12-episode television anime series in July 2015. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired, and Sentai Filmworks licensed the series for home video.

Himouto! Umaru-chan R, the second anime season based on the manga, premiered in Japan in October 2017. Sentai Filmworks licensed the sequel and streamed it on Amazon‘s now-defunct Anime Strike service in the United States.

Sankaku Head will end the My Darling Devilish Daughter (Boku no Manamusume) manga in the seventh volume in 2027.

The author announced on his YouTube channel on February 4 that he will end his pace as a weekly serialization artist. He cited his health condition deteriorating as he grows older and a desire to focus on his children as reasons for the decision. The artist is switching to a monthly serialization pace going forward.

This year’s 19th issue of Shogakukan‘s Big Comic magazine announced on Friday that Tetsuya Chiba‘s Hinemosu Notari Nikki manga will go on hiatus due to Chiba’s poor health. The magazine’s editorial staff stated that Chiba is eager to resume the manga’s serialization as soon as possible, but the editorial department will prioritize Chiba’s health and recovery.

In a separate statement by Chiba, he stated that the severe summer heat might be the cause of him feeling under the weather. Chiba added that he will focus on recovering to get back to drawing manga again. He apologizes for the worry he has caused, and asks for the readers’ patience as he takes some time to recover.

Chiba launched the autobiographical short essay manga in Big Comic in December 2015. Shogakukan published the manga’s first compiled book volume in 2018, and the seventh volume in November 2025. The manga previously went on hiatus in August 2024, and resumed serialization in December that same year.

Chiba debuted as a manga creator in 1956. He is perhaps best known for his Ashita no Joe (Tomorrow’s Joe) boxing manga, which ran from 1968 to 1973, and has remained a mainstay in Japanese popular culture for decades. The manga inspired two television anime in 1970 and 1980, as well as two anime films in 1980 and 1981. The manga’s story was re-imagined in a new sci-fi setting with new characters in 2018’s Megalobox anime, which credits the original manga as its origin. The sequel series for Megalobox, Megalobox 2: Nomad, premiered in April 2021.

Ashita no Joe received its first official English release under the title Ashita no Joe: Fighting for Tomorrow in December 2024.

Chiba was nominated to the Japan Art Academy in 2022 as one of its first two manga creators (along with Yoshiharu Tsuge). He is also currently the chair of the Japan Cartoonists Association.

Chiba was honored with the prestigious Order of Culture award in 2024, and is the first manga creator to have received the honor. The order is awarded to those “who have made outstanding contributions in developing” Japanese culture.

Chiba is 87, and had heart surgery to put a stint in his coronary artery in January 2022. Chiba noted in a blog post in 2024 that he also had eye surgery.

In November 2021, Chiba had revealed that he admitted himself to a hospital in Tokyo after he started feeling unwell after summer ended that year. He stated that he started having abnormalities one after another in his heart valve, coronary artery, and throat. He then started treatment for a tumor in his throat.

The new season covers the “Eris Training Arc” storyline, which started in the 13th volume of the original novel series. The “Chaos Breaker” arc started with the eighth episode on August 16.

The season’s new cast members include:

Yuiko Ōhara performs the new opening theme song “Ketsui no Uta” (Song of Resolve). Mika Nakashima performs the ending theme song “Inori, Owareba” (If the Prayers Are Over). The anime debuted on Tokyo MX and BS11 on July 5. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired, and it is also streaming an English dub.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed both Rifujin na Magonote‘s original main light novel series and Yuka Fujikawa‘s manga adaptation. The company also licensed Shōko Iwami‘s Mushoku Tensei: Roxy Gets Serious (Mushoku Tensei: Roxy Datte Honki desu) spinoff manga. Seven Seas describes the “epic and influential fantasy” story of the original novels:

Kicked out by his family and wandering the streets, an unemployed 34-year-old shut-in thinks he’s hit rock-bottom—just as he’s hit and killed by a speeding truck! Awakening to find himself reborn as an infant in a world of swords and sorcery, but with the memories of his first life intact, Rudeus Greyrat is determined not to repeat his past mistakes. He’s going to make the most of this reincarnation as he sets off on the adventure of a second lifetime!

Rifujin na Magonote initially serialized the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō (Let’s Become Novelists) website from 2012 to 2015. Kadokawa‘s MF Books imprint then began publishing a print version in 2014. The 26th volume shipped in November 2022.

The first part of the novels’ first anime adaptation debuted in January 2021, and the second part debuted in October 2021, after a delay from that July. Funimation streamed the season. Crunchyroll and Hulu are now streaming the anime, including the unaired side-story original video anime (OVA) episode “Eris the Goblin Slayer.”

The second season aired for two cours (two quarters of a year). The first half premiered on Tokyo MX in July 2023 before airing on other networks, and the second half debuted in April 2024. Crunchyroll streamed the season as it aired.

A free-to-play Mushoku Tensei – Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu: Chronicle of Echoes (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation: Chronicle of Echoes) “serious alternate-world x 3D battle role-playing game” launched on July 27. Gree Entertainment is planning and releasing the game, and Asobimo is developing and maintaining it.
