Paramount Primal, the genre label run by J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules, continues to roll in high gear.

The label, which launched in late 2025, and is currently in production on its first feature, has picked up an original erotic thriller spec script titled Sweet Spot by screenwriting social media influencer Nic Curcio and his wife Kirby Gladstein.

Details are being kept in the under lock and key but the project is described as a high-concept thriller.

Curcio has gained a devoted following of almost 143,000 followers on TikTok where his screenwriting advice, industry wisdom and takes on the movies of the day have received over 10.2 million likes. But he’s not just an influencer, he is a working screenwriter, as well. He was a writer on Sony Pictures Animation’s GOAT,  produced by Stephen Curry. He has developed projects for multiple studios, including a live-action Magic School Bus for Universal and an adaptation of Planet of the Nerds for Paramount. His comedy script Barron, centered on President Donald Trump’s son Barron Trump, appeared on the 2019 Black List.

In September 2025, Curcio and Gladstein won Fantastic Fest’s inaugural “Fantastic Pitches” competition and received funding and distribution for their horror film Play House, which is Curcio’s feature directorial debut. They also wrote and produced the film, which will premiere at Fantastic Fest in September. Curcio and Gladstein are represented by UTA, 3 Arts, Jackoway Austen.

Primal is in production on Boys for Life, a comedy that Paramount has dated for April 9, 2027. It also made headlines earlier this month when it picked up the domestic screen rights to Wes Craven’s original A Nightmare on Elm Street script.

EXCLUSIVE: Dermot Mulroney will say goodbye to NBC‘s Chicago Fire and will wrap up his storyline early in Season 15, sources close to production tell Deadline.

Mulroney joined the hit firefighter drama from Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television in the show’s 13th season as a series regular, portraying Chief Dom Pascal. The actor joined Firehouse 51 following the exit of Eamonn Walker, who played Wallace Boden across the show’s first 12 seasons.

Mulroney went on hiatus for the latter half of Season 14, returning in the finale to discuss with Severide (Taylor Kinney) his professional options: Chief of Firehouse 51 or Chief of Fire Investigation? As Severide is about to share his decision, an emergency call interrupts his announcement. That call sends the team to tackle a major warehouse fire that could potentially cost the lives of one or more of Chicago’s bravest. Although Pascal was not part of the team fighting the flames from the inside, he is part of the crew outside trying desperately to save their colleagues as the roof begins to collapse. Season 15, premiering October 7 at 9 p.m. ET, will address the fallout from the events of the Season 14 finale.

While handling his duties on Chicago Fire, Mulroney was also a series regular on the Netflix drama series The Hunting Wives, playing Jed Banks. Mulroney revealed in May that production had concluded on The Hunting Wives‘ second season and that a writers’ room had begun for a potential third season. If the streamer moves ahead on the new season, production could begin in the fall.

Going back to April, we revealed Andrea Newman, who has been with NBC’s firefighter drama for its entire 14-season run to date and showrunner for the past three seasons, would be leaving. Succeeding her is Chicago Fire co-executive producer Victor Teran, who has been named executive producer and showrunner for the upcoming 15th season.

Mulroney is the latest confirmed cast departure from Chicago Fire following the news earlier this week that Joe Miñoso, who had been on the series since its inception, would also conclude his storyline early in Season 14. As Deadline reported in May, the show’s leads, Kinney and Miranda Rae Mayo, have signed new deals to continue on the show. Hanako Greensmith, Jocelyn Hudon, and Brandon Larracuente are among the names sources say will also be back in Season 15.

Also arriving this fall, BMF star Da’Vinchi will join the fold playing the series regular role of Marcus Burke, a firefighter candidate at Firehouse 51. Roguish and funny with a wry sense of humor, he’s also a little defiant.
