Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga and will begin releasing it in September. Seven Seas Entertainment describes the story:

Ueno and Kanada seem like two complete opposites in the office. Ueno is an accountant who can strike fear into his co-workers with his strict and unbending ways. Meanwhile, Kanda is the superstar of the sales department—and thanks to his friendly and outgoing personality, he is even next in line to be manager! While most would think these two could never mesh, the truth is they’re actually very close friends outside of work.

Kanda often crashes at Ueno’s place, and the two spend time with each other constantly, growing closer than most co-workers would. But when Ueno confesses to Kanada that he’s gay, a myriad of unsaid feelings begin to grow between them. Ueno has mixed feelings about how close and touchy Kanada can be, while Kanada is hung up on the fact that Ueno claimed he wasn’t his type!

Can these two salarymen navigate their true feelings and realize the growing love between them?

Meigetsu Takahashi is directing the series, with scripts by Emi Amamoto. Nobuhiro Tateno and Ami Yamashita are composing the music.

The series will debut on Fuji TV this fall, and will also stream on Fuji TV On Demand.

The manga serialized on Renta! from March 2023 to April 2024. Takeshobo published one compiled book volume for the manga.

The editors for Square Enix‘s Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine announced on Wednesday that manga artist Yōko Umezu had died on July 7 due to cerebral infarction (ischemic stroke). The magazine’s editors stated that a private funeral was held, attended only by close relatives.

The editors also announced that Vermeil in Gold (Kinsō no Vermeil: Gakeppuchi Majutsushi wa Saikyō no Yakusai to Mahō Sekai o Tsukisusumu), Kōta Amana and Umezu’s manga that serialized in Monthly Shonen Gangan, has ended with the chapter that ran in the magazine’s July issue on June 12. The editorial staff added that they will announce details regarding the publication of the series’ uncollected chapters at a later date.

Amana and Umezu launched the manga in Monthly Shonen Gangan in August 2018. Square Enix published the manga’s 11th compiled book volume on June 11. Square Enix‘s Manga UP! Global service and Comikey both publish the manga in English digitally.

The manga’s television anime adaptation premiered in July 2022. HIDIVE streamed the anime as it aired in Japan, and also streamed an English dub.

Umezu also drew the Minidura spinoff manga of Ryohgo Narita‘s Durarara!! light novel series, which ran in Kadokawa‘s Dengeki Maoh magazine from 2013 to 2015.

The anime takes place in the Bakumatsu era in Kyoto. A solider who has lost his memories is aided by the famous Shinsengumi member Okita Sōji. Okita Sōji names this man “Tachikawa Jinsuke.” Jinsuke’s life begins anew amidst the Mibu soldiers.

The anime will star (historical Japanese characters’ names are rendered family name first):

Yutaka Narui and Aniplex are in charge of the original story with cooperation by Azuki Mashiba. Tomohiro Kawamura is directing the anime at Live2D Creative Studio and Drive Inc. Narui is also writing the scripts. Fumi Ebina is the character designer, and Shigeru Kishida is composing the music.

The anime will premiere in January 2027 on the “Agaru Anime” programming block on CBC, TBS, and 26 other affiliated networks. There will be an early theatrical preview screening in 2026.

The anime’s four-panel manga adaptation launches on Star Seas Company‘s Twi4 (read as Tsuiyon) X (formerly Twitter) account in 2026. Matsuri Muramatsu draws the manga.

Narui is a playwright and founder of the theatrical troupe Caramel Box who has previously worked on many stage plays themed on the Shinsengumi. While one of the plays was also titled Kaze wo Tsugumono, the way the title is written is different (with “mono” being written in kanji for the play and in hiragana for the anime), and the anime is still listed as being an “original” TV anime.
