Melissa McCarthy’s Margie Claus Sets Release Date, Cast
Now you know when you can unwrap “Margie Claus.”
Warner Bros. Pictures Animation has announced that the new animated feature, starring Melissa McCarthy as the title character, will hit theaters worldwide on Nov. 12, 2027.
Additionally, the voice cast for the animated feature has been revealed, with Jim Gaffigan as Santa, Andrew Scott as Jack Frost joining McCarthy and Cole Escola, as a helpful elf, who have been previously announced. Annie Mumolo, Georgette Falcone, Octavia Spencer, Gary Farmer, Luis Gerardo Méndez, Cedric Yarbrough and Maria Bakalova will also star.
Directed by animation legend Kirk DeMicco from a screenplay by Ben Falcone and Damon Jones, the film features original songs written and produced by Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum selling artist Meghan Trainor along with Falcone and Jones. The film is produced by McCarthy and Falcone through their On the Day Productions banner alongside Michelle L.M. Wong, who recently won an Oscar for her work on a little film called “KPop Demon Hunters.”
“Margie Claus” concerns Santa’s wife Margie, who has to spring into action when Santa Claus goes missing on Christmas Eve. What does she do, exactly? “She grabs a century old sleigh out of mothballs, puts together a wildly unqualified rescue team and ventures to the South Pole where good cheer can get you killed,” according to the official synopsis.
“I love Christmas so much, and so does Margie Claus,” said McCarthy in an official statement. “Our story is about showing up for the people you love the most at the holidays, and it’s a reminder that you don’t have to be perfect to be lovable. It’s been so special to make this movie with Ben, Kirk, Michelle, Damon and are you kidding me? We got Meghan Trainor, Chef’s kiss! Ben and I can’t wait to get on our sleigh next November and throw Christmas cookie and ugly sweater parties at theaters across the globe. We’ve always wanted to tour the amazing movie theaters all over the world, and this is the perfect way to do it. We can’t wait to see you there! Ho Ho Ho!!”
“Margie Claus” is part of an ambitious inaugural slate from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, which also includes this fall’s “The Cat in the Hat,” “Bad Fairies” (May 21, 2027), “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” (March 17, 2028), “Hello Kitty” (July 21, 2028) and “The Lunar Chronicles” (November 3, 2028).
Whether you’re naughty or nice, “Margie Claus” will be in theaters on November 12, 2027 for everybody.

Margie Claus: Melissa McCarthy Animated Movie Gets Release, Full Cast
Melissa McCarthy is getting into the holiday spirit with Margie Claus.
Warner Bros. Pictures Animation announced Thursday that director Kirk DeMicco’s animated feature will hit theaters Nov. 12, 2027, shifting a week later than its previous release date. The studio also announced that Jim Gaffigan will voice Santa, while Andrew Scott is set as Jack Frost. Annie Mumolo, Georgette Falcone, Octavia Spencer, Gary Farmer, Luis Gerardo Méndez, Cedric Yarbrough and Maria Bakalova also join the film alongside previously announced castmembers McCarthy and Cole Escola.
Margie Claus centers on McCarthy as Santa’s loving wife, who must venture to the dangerous South Pole to rescue her husband and save Christmas.
Also hitting theaters that weekend is Paramount Pictures’ adaptation of Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow starring Daisy Edgar-Jones. With shifting back a week, Margie Claus will no longer go head-to-head with Olivia Wilde’s holiday comedy Naughty starring Jennifer Aniston and Peter Dinklage, which Universal releases in theaters Nov. 7, 2027.
DeMicco helms Margie Claus from a script by Ben Falcone and Damon Jones. Meghan Trainor will write and produce original songs, as will Falcone and Jones. Producers for Margie Claus include McCarthy and Falcone for On the Day Productions, alongside Michelle L.M. Wong
“I love Christmas so much, and so does Margie Claus,” McCarthy said in a statement. “Our story is about showing up for the people you love the most at the holidays, and it’s a reminder that you don’t have to be perfect to be lovable. ‘The Odyssey’ Passes ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ For All-Time R-Rated Box Office Record
After a month in theaters, Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” is still sailing at the box office and has now passed the 2024 Marvel movie “Deadpool & Wolverine” to become the highest grossing R-rated film in box office history before inflation adjustment.
“Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds marked the record with a social media post congratulating Nolan and the “Odyssey” cast and crew with a video splicing footage of Odysseus and his men walking through a forest with footage of Deadpool and Wolverine fighting inside of a sedan.
“The Odyssey” now stands at $1.35 billion worldwide and is on its way to grossing more than $1.6 billion worldwide as it continues its theatrical run with recent releases in China and South Korea and a release in Japan to come in September. If the film passes $1.67 billion, it will pass the unadjusted global total of the 2015 film “Jurassic World” to become Universal’s highest grossing film of all time before inflation.
In all, “The Odyssey” stands as one of only three R-rated films to gross more than $1 billion worldwide, four if you count the inflation-adjusted global total of the 1973 classic “The Exorcist,” which has made $441 million in lifetime grosses and stood as the R rating record holder for 44 years until Andy Muschietti’s “It” passed it in 2017. Along with “Deadpool & Wolverine,” the first R-rated film to cross that threshold before inflation was “Joker” in 2019.
“The Odyssey” has further built Nolan’s status as the most globally popular director working today, with millions of film lovers around the world treating his films as cinematic events regardless of the subject matter. Starring Matt Damon as Odysseus with a cast that includes Tom Holland and Anne Hathaway, “The Odyssey” was marketed with the distinction of being the first film shot entirely with Imax film cameras, creating the desire to see the film on premium and analog formats.
Earlier this month, “The Odyssey” became the highest grossing film in Imax history, becoming the first film to gross more than $300 million worldwide in the format. More than $40 million of that total has come from 41 theaters showing the film on Imax 70mm, with screenings at those theaters still selling out through mid-September.
