Forest Green Rovers have given manager Robbie Savage permission to speak to another club, amid speculation linking him to the vacant role at Peterborough United.

The National League side added that Savage would not be in the dugout for Tuesday night’s game at home to Wealdstone.

Asked on Saturday whether he had any contact from Posh, Savage did not deny the speculation but said he did not know if there had been contact from the club.

“I don’t know, I’ve got a game to prepare for and I’m really excited to watch my team,” he told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

Former Wales international Savage was appointed at Forest Green on 1 July 2025, having previously managed non-league Macclesfield Town.

The 51-year-old, who played as a midfielder for clubs including Derby County, Birmingham City, Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers, guided Forest Green to seventh in the table last season but they were beaten in the play-off eliminators.

This season they sit 12th after 10 matches, with four wins, two draws and four defeats.

Peterborough are looking for a new manager after sacking Luke Williams on 19 September following a poor start to the season.

They are currently 23rd in League One with just one win in eight league games.

Ferguson, who is under contract until 2028 with the option of a further year, has played every minute of Bologna’s five Serie A games so far this season.

His father, Derek, and uncle, Barry, both played for Rangers with the latter captaining and at one stage managing at Ibrox.

In July, newly-installed Rangers manager Derek McInnes spoke of an “obvious link” with Ferguson, having worked with the player at Aberdeen.

On his bond with Rangers, Ferguson said: “It’s no secret that I grew up a fan and my family is involved in the club.

“It was a dream of mine as a kid and that’s not changed but I don’t want to speak about that while I’m a player at Bologna.

“In the future, you never know. It might happen, it might not, but it’s always been something in the back of mind.”

The 2026 Darts World Grand Prix starts on Monday, 28 September and is one of the Professional Darts Corporation’s major titles.

Unlike the rest of the sport’s majors, the tournament uses a ‘double in, double out’ format.

The 32 players featuring are made up of the 16 best-ranked players from the PDC’s Order of Merit, and the best 16 from the past 12 months via the Order of Merit who had not already qualified.

A total prize fund of £750,000 is up for grabs, with the winner earning £150,000.

Teenager and current world number one Luke Littler was the winner in 2025, cruising to a 6-1 victory over Luke Humphries in the final.
