Kodansha‘s K Manga service announced on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday and Friday that it has added Atsuko Namba’s Square Up for Love (Koi Suru Shikaku) manga and Hajime Inoryū and Shōta Itō‘s Lonely Deaths Lie Thick as Snow (Furitsumore Kodokuna Shi yo) manga in English.

K MANGA describes Square Up for Love‘s story:

Mize Takahashi is a 28-year-old office worker who lives by herself. She’s currently dating Sakurai-senpai from the same company☆―or so she thought. Is it possible that she’s actually the one he’s cheating on his girlfriend with?! While heartbroken, Mize has an unexpected reunion at her family’s restaurant with her childhood friend Ritsu, who is nine years her junior. It has been ages since Mize last saw him, but the person he likes is…actually her?! At age 28, an uncertain love begins.

Namba launched the manga in Kodansha‘s Be Love magazine in July 2024. The company shipped the fourth compiled book volume of the manga on April 13.

Kodansha USA Publishing licensed the manga and describes the story:

A routine call regarding a burglary at an empty mansion leads cocky young police detective Jin Saeki to a gruesome and shocking discovery. The corpses of 13 children, along with the presence of a strange symbol, spur a manhunt for Juzo Haikawa, the mysterious absentee owner of the house. So begins an investigation (and an obsession) that will take Jin all over Japan and into the darkest recesses of both the past and the human soul.

Kodansha USA shipped the first volume on March 3 and will ship the second volume on May 12.

The manga inspired a live-action series in July 2024.

This year’s spring issue of Shueisha‘s Jump Giga magazine published the final three chapters of Yūki Tabata‘s Black Clover manga. Shueisha had previously announced that the manga would reach its climax in this issue.

Tabata launched Black Clover in Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2015. The manga moved to the quarterly Jump Giga magazine in 2023. Viz Media is publishing the manga digitally and in print, and Shueisha‘s MANGA Plus service is also publishing the manga digitally.

The manga went on hiatus for a planned three months in late April 2022 so that Tabata could prepare for the “final arc” of the manga (the wording used could also be translated as “final saga”). The manga then resumed in August 2022.

The Black Clover anime premiered in Japan in October 2017. The show was originally listed with 51 episodes, but it continued into a new season with episode 52 in October 2018, and continued on again into a new season in October 2019. Crunchyroll streamed the series in Japanese with English subtitles, and Funimation streamed the show’s English dub. The anime debuted on Adult Swim‘s Toonami programming block in December 2017. The anime last aired in March 2021 with its 170th episode.

The new season will debut in 2026. Studio Pierrot will return to animate the new season. Crunchyroll will stream the anime.

Crunchyroll describes the story:

In a world where magic is everything, Asta and Yuno are both found abandoned at a church on the same day. While Yuno is gifted with exceptional magical powers, Asta is the only one in this world without any. At the age of fifteen, both receive grimoires, magic books that amplify their holder’s magic. Asta’s is a rare Grimoire of Anti-Magic that negates and repels his opponent’s spells. Being opposite but good rivals, Yuno and Asta are ready for the hardest of challenges to achieve their common dream: to be the Wizard King. Giving up is never an option!

The Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King (Black Clover: Mahо̄tei no Ken) anime film opened in Japan and debuted on Netflix worldwide in June 2023.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in June 2016 and released the 36th volume in January 2025.

Synopsis

In a world full of magic, Asta—an orphan who is overly loud and energetic—possesses none whatsoever. Despite this, he dreams of becoming the Wizard King, a title bestowed upon the strongest mage in the Clover Kingdom. Possessing the same aspiration, Asta’s childhood friend and rival, Yuno, has been blessed with the ability to control powerful wind magic. Even with this overwhelming gap between them, hoping to somehow awaken his magical abilities and catch up to Yuno, Asta trains his body relentlessly every day.

In the Clover Kingdom, once a person turns 15 years old, it is time for them to receive their Grimoire, an item allowing its wielder to use their magic to its full capacity. At the ceremony, Yuno obtains a Grimoire with a legendary four-leaf clover, indicating the exceptional strength of its wielder, while Asta pointlessly waits for his. Feeling dejected, yet unwilling to give up, Asta sees Yuno caught by a mage who is trying to steal Yuno’s special Grimoire. Despite being completely overpowered by Yuno’s captor, Asta’s will to keep fighting rewards him with his very own Grimoire—one with an unheard-of black five-leaf clover. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
