The official website for Shin Gekijōban ☆ Keroro Gunsō Fukkatsu Shite Sokkō Chikyū Metsubō no Kiki de Arimasu! (New Sgt. Frog the Movie: The Earth Is in Mortal Peril as Soon as We Come Back!), the new 20th anniversary anime film project, announced more guest cast members for the film on Tuesday. The guest cast members include:
Jesse of the idol group SixTONES is voicing both new characters Aruru and Deruru, who are brothers from the planet Keron who apparently have a past link to Sgt. Frog‘s unit.
Singer ano and comedian Soshina, who are performing the film’s opening theme song “Mata Kaettekita KERO! to MARCH,” are also guest cast members in the film. In addition, ano is playing a researcher robot, and Soshina is playing a “man in Shibuya.”
Yūichi Fukuda (live-action Gintama, Saint Young Men, HK/Hentai Kamen) is the supervising director and scriptwriter for the film, with Fumitoshi Oizaki (Sgt. Frog character designer, Romeo X Juliet, Etotama, Akuma Kun, The Gorilla God’s Go-To Girl) directing the anime at Bandai Namco Pictures, and Satoshi Koike (Etotama, Soul Eater Not!, Princess Connect! Re:Dive season 2) as character designer. In addition to the opening theme song, ano will also perform the “Kashippanashi Destiny” theme song for the film.
The film will open in Japan on June 26.
In addition to the film, an all-new Sgt. Frog television anime, titled Keroro Gunsō ☆, will debut in fall 2026. The television anime will have a brand-new cast, while this summer’s film will still feature the existing cast in the franchise.
Crunchyroll added the earlier television anime to its catalog beginning in 2021, and it describes the anime:
Keroro is Sergeant Frog – the leader of a platoon of warriors sent to conquer planet Earth. But when the amphibious invaders discovered how much humans enjoy dissecting their comrades, the troops were scattered, the mission was aborted, and Keroro was abandoned. Now, this once proud soldier spends more time wielding a vacuum than he does the weapons of war. It’s a far cry from the glory of battle, but hey, at least he’s got his own room. And though the invasion may have slowed to a hop, Sergeant Frog still occasionally yearns to overcome his karaoke addiction and reassemble his troops.
Sunrise’s earlier anime series based on Mine Yoshizaki‘s Sgt. Frog (Keroro Gunsō) manga ran from 2004 to 2011, and it spawned five feature films. Funimation released two “seasons” of the anime on DVD, after ADV Films had licensed but not released the anime.
Discotek licensed the anime, and its release of Sgt. Frog includes all 358 episodes in successive SD Blu-ray Disc volume releases by season, beginning in 2021. Discotek released seasons 5-7 last year.
American manga publisher Tokyopop released twenty volumes of the original manga in North America before shutting its doors in 2011.

Muramasa: Revenant Blades is the Definitive Remaster You’ve Been Waiting For – Tokyo Game Show 2026

2009 saw the release of Muramasa: The Demon Blade for the Nintendo Wii. Born from the mind of Vanillaware’s George Kamitani (Dragon’s Crown, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Unicorn Overlord), this 2D metroidvania beat ’em up is set in a folklore-inspired feudal Japan and contains some absolutely wonderful colorful artwork. The upcoming Muramasa: Revenant Blades not only remasters the original game and the DLC from the PSP port in HD, but includes a few new gameplay additions as well.
At Marvelous’ Pre-Tokyo Game Show 2026 event, I was able to spend an hour playing Muramasa: Revenant Blades in a demo starting just before the first boss in Momohime’s story and ending after the second.

To start with the obvious, the hand-drawn art looks absolutely stunning in HD. The backgrounds range for dark forests and dank caves to sunlit fields and bustling cities—and are frankly beautiful. The character designs are likewise perfectly realized but it’s the boss monsters that really stand out. Both of those seen in the demo look as if they were taken directly out of the art of feudal Japan—and feel almost eldritch in motion because of that.
While I’ve played many of Vanillaware’s titles, Muramasa: The Demon Blade was one of the few I never did. So instead of powering through the main plot, I did what I always do in games when playing them for the first time: test the limited of where I could go. The game allows for a ton of freedom right from the onset. I went in the direct opposite direction of where I was supposed to go and only turned back when the time limit for playing was drawing near.

Of course, it wasn’t like everywhere was accessible. Some areas were locked behind barriers that required certain weapons to open but rarely did I run into a true dead end. Moreover, I was always being rewarded for exploring via chests, item drops, or surprisingly long battles with many waves of enemies.
Speaking of battles, this game’s combat is built around equipping three weapons (of over a hundred) and swapping between them on the fly constantly. Simply put, each weapon can only be used a certain amount of times before it breaks. However, it will heal itself when not in use. This mechanic works to keep things fresh as different weapons have different move sets.

That said, none of the battles I encountered were particularly difficult. While blocking is an option, attacking at the same time as an enemy causes a parry—meaning that spamming attacks is often the best defense as well as offense. More over, as far as I traveled, I was forced to fight the same enemies again and again—and, even when they were different, the same strategy almost always worked. The worst part of the combat came in the form of the flying enemies who would often retreat off-screen—meaning there was nothing you could do besides wait for them to return to the combat area.

In the end, Muramasa: Revenant Blades feels like one of those games that gets better as you go along. You meet new enemies, get more and more demon blades to play around with, and face increasingly difficult and creative bosses. However, the real selling point for this game feels like the art and the story. If you’ve ever played any of Vanillaware’s other titles and enjoyed them, it would probably be worth your time to give this one a try as well.
Muramasa: Revenant Blades will be released on the PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and Windows on February 4, 2027.

Toyota Demos Initial D’s Drifting Without Spilling Water Cup in Real Life – Interest
Toyota partnered with popular street racing manga and anime series Initial D on Friday to recreate an iconic Initial D drifting scene in a video. Toyota driver Keizō Katō steers an AE86 Corolla Levin (incidentally the sister car to the AE86 Sprinter Trueno) on a company test course without spilling a cup of water, just like Initial D protagonist Takumi Fujiwara. The video features several SFX and panels from the Initial D manga series.
The Toyota x Initial D partnership celebrates the unofficial Tofu Day on October 2. (The day is a Japanese wordplay on the number 10, sometimes pronounced tō, and the number two, sometimes pronounced fu.)
Shūichi Shigeno launched the original Initial D manga in Kodansha‘s Weekly Young Magazine in 1995, and it spawned several anime series between 1998 and 2014. Shigeno published a sequel series, MF Ghost, in Young Magazine from 2017 to 2025, and it also inspired an anime series in 2023. The MF Ghost anime’s staff announced the fourth and final season this past March.
By the way, if you don’t have an actual AE86, you can get a scale miniature dashboard (with a cup, of course) as a consolation prize. Or you can also drift toy RC cars — or drift U.S. Marines tanks (in snow).

Retailers are listing the 12th compiled book volume of Koushi‘s You Are a Four Leaf Clover (Kimi wa Yotsuba no Clover) manga as the final volume. The volume will ship on December 8. Update: This year’s 45th issue of Akita Shoten‘s Weekly Shōnen Champion revealed on Thursday that the manga will end in the magazine’s next issue on October 15.
The romantic suspense manga centers around Uichi, a once popular student who is now relentlessly bullied in high school. Still, he strives everyday to keep a promise to Yotsuha (his first love from elementary school before she transferred schools) to become a veterinarian. Just as he reaches his limit with the bullying, Yotsuha suddenly appears before him. She has seemingly not changed since back then — except she harbors only one hidden resolve deep in her eyes.
Koushi launched the manga in Akita Shoten‘s Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine in July 2024. Akita Shoten published the manga’s 11th compiled book volume on Wednesday.
The manga is inspiring an upcoming anime.
