Manga centering on young girl from 1890 named Kanako gets simultaneous English release

Kogattuo and Ichika Kino launched a new manga titled World Wide Web MIKO! (Sekai wo Tsunagi Tsukusu Internet Miko) on Shonen Jump+ on Friday. MANGA Plus is publishing chapters of the manga in English as they debut in Japan.

MANGA Plus describes the story:

In the year 1890, during the Meiji era, a curious young girl named Kanako is absolutely obsessed with the “Worldwide MIKO SpiriNet,” otherwise known as the Internet, which can only be controlled by chosen miko. When she’s not browsing message boards, she can be found… capitvated [sic] by pictures of men…?!

Ichika Kino‘s Ossan Idol! manga launched on Shufu to Seikatsu Sha‘s Comic PASH! manga website in July 2018. The publisher released the eighth and final compiled book volume in August 2022. Tokyopop published the manga in English.

The manga adapts Mochiko Mochida and Mizuki Sakakibara‘s light novels of the same name. Mochida debuted the novel series on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in June 2016. Shufu to Seikatsu Sha began releasing the series in compiled book volumes with Sakakibara’s illustrations in June 2017, and the fourth compiled volume shipped in January 2020.

Supporting Cast Pair for ‘Tongari Boushi no Atelier’ Announced

The official website of the Tongari Boushi no Atelier (Witch Hat Atelier) television anime revealed a pair of supporting cast members on Monday. The anime series adapting Kamome Shirahama‘s fantasy manga began airing on April 6 at 11:00 p.m. on Tokyo MX, BS11, followed by KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, and AT-X

Voice actors Ryusei Nakao (Dragon Ball) and Hiiro Ishibashi (Kaijuu no Kodomo) are joining the cast as Sasaran and Euini, respectively.

Shirahama began serializing the manga in Morning Two magazine in July 2016. Kodansha published the 16th volume on April 23.

Kodansha USA licensed the manga in English in July 2018 and published the 14th volume on March 17.

‘Yoroi Shin Den Samurai Troopers Part 2’ Unveils Additional Cast, Theme Songs, First Promo

The official website of the Yoroi Shin Den Samurai Troopers television anime revealed additional cast, visual (pictured), theme songs, and a promotional video for the second part on Monday. Part two is scheduled to premiere on July 7 at 11:30 p.m. on Tokyo MX, followed by Kansai TV and BS11.

Inmei: Takehito Koyasu (Jujutsu Kaisen 2nd Season)

Gaimei: Hiroshi Shirokuma (Overlord)

J-pop band Dannie May (Tsuihousha Shokudou e Youkoso!) is performing the opening theme “Bad Idenshi,” which is previewed in the promotional video below. Karanoah (Gachiakuta) performs the ending theme “Bakemon.”

Youichi Fujita (Gintama) is directing the anime at Sunrise. Shougo Mutou (Biohazard: Infinite Darkness) is handling the series composition and penning the script, and Yuuhei Murota (Tokidoki Bosotto Russia-go de Dereru Tonari no Alya-san) is designing the characters. Shuuji Katayama (Overlord) is composing the music.

The original television anime aired in 39 episodes from Spring 1998 to Winter 1989. Three original anime sequels were released, with the latest five-episode OVA released in 1991.

Hajime Yatate and Ryuuichi Hoshino began serializing a manga adaptation in Comic Bonbon in 1988. Kodansha published the second and final volume in 1989.
