Supergirl Premiere: David Corenswet Defends Milly Alcock From Photographer
David Corenswet was lauded as a “real life” Superman after coming to co-star Milly Alcock’s defense at the “Supergirl” premiere in New York City on Monday.
In video footage that appeared to be from the red carpet premiere and shared on X, Corenswet, who plays Clark Kent/Superman in James Gunn’s DC Universe, is seen confronting a photographer for touching Alcock’s back without her permission. It’s unclear why the photographer touched Alcock, but it seemed to upset Corenswet, who put himself between the actress and the press line.
It didn’t take long for the clip to take off, with the original poster asking their followers: “Why tf would you put your hands on an actress at their movie premiere as a photographer?”
However, countless others were simply happy to see Corenswet’s chivalrous actions. “Protective cousin moment,” one fan wrote on X, referencing the fact that Corenswet and Alcock play cousins in the new “Supergirl” movie.
“Good on David Corenswet for stepping in,” another commented. “A photographer has no business putting their hands on an actress at a red carpet event, or anywhere else.”
A third commented, “bro’s superman in the movies & superman in real life too it seems.” A fourth fan appeared to echo this sentiment, adding beneath the post, “Ugh I love David Corenswet he really is Superman.”
And that’s just a taste of the praise for Corenswet, as the video has been viewed nearly 775,000 times with over 8,000 likes.
“Supergirl” sees Corenswet return as the Man of Steel, but it’s Alcock’s Supergirl/Kara Zor-El who is leading the new superhero movie. Per a logline for the movie, “Supergirl” follows the titular superhero as she “joins forces with an unlikely companion on an interstellar journey of vengeance and justice.” However, “an unexpected adversary strikes too close to home,” with the trailer showing her beloved dog Krypto (who became a fan favorite in Gunn’s “Superman) in dire trouble.
“Supergirl” soars into theaters on June 26.

Jon Stewart Grills ‘Regime Change’ Authors Over Situation Room Source
Jon Stewart tried to coax veteran journalists Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan into revealing the source behind the bombshell Situation Room account detailed in their new book, “Regime Change,” during a Monday “Daily Show” interview.
The comedian sat down with Haberman and Swan to discuss their forthcoming book, which made headlines after it was speculated that they may’ve obtained leaked audio from sensitive Situation Room meetings – including one where members of the Trump administration gathered to strategize a way to handle the Epstein files.
“You have information in here from inside the Situation Room, where they’re having a meeting to discuss the damage from the Epstein files,” Stewart said. “There’s only five people in the room? Six?”
Haberman responded by clarifying that “there were a couple of meetings that we describe in the book,” adding, “And so, there is one which was about a half a dozen people.”
Haberman did confirm that the conversations in question did involve “senior levels of the White House,” including members of the DOJ.
“So you have information. Six people are in the room,” Stewart reiterated. “Without giving away the secret, who’s the rat?”
Both Haberman and Swan laughed in response to Stewart’s grilling, with Swan even quipping that the “Daily Show” host “sound[ed] like Trump right now.”
“Tell me the rat. Who is it? [Scott] Bessent?” Stewart went on. It’s [Howard] Lutnick.”
When Stewart asked point-blank if any of this information came directly from Trump, Haberman clarified that the president “wasn’t in these meetings.”
Swan added: “They had the Epstein meetings without him because they knew he didn’t want to talk about Epstein.”
Haberman co-signed this summary, noting these high-level meetings were meant to “protect against him not wanting to discuss this and leaks.”
As Stewart asked for more details, Haberman cheekily encouraged the comedian to keep reading the book.
“I am enjoying it, but I am baffled that this administration … they are so tight knit and so loyalist, that you would be able to glean this,” Stewart said. “Did you have — was it on tape? People have suggested it might be on tape.”
Swan quickly shut down this line of questioning, sharing that they wouldn’t “speculate or talk about that.” To which Stewart responded: “I’m not asking you to speculate. I’m asking you to tell me. I’m asking you to tell me how!”
Haberman then chimed in with her own refusal, adding, “We appreciate you. We’re not going to talk about sourcing.”
“No. And I wouldn’t. And I wouldn’t ask you to,” Stewart doubled down. “What I would do is … I’m going to say a name.”
Stewart once again garnered a big laugh out of the journalists and his studio audience. He did eventually move on to other topics relating to book, including Haberman and Swan’s thoughts on the Trump administration’s current relationship with the press.

“The Daily Show” airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET on Comedy Central.

Ryan O’Connell Says DeuxMoi’s ‘Anon Pls’ Series Is “Over” At HBO Max: “It Didn’t Move Forward”
Ryan O’Connell has confirmed that the adaptation based on DeuxMoi‘s novel Anon Pls is dead at HBO Max.
While appearing on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, the screenwriter said the series had not moved forward.
“Oh, yes, but that’s over. It didn’t move forward,” O’Connell told host Andy Cohen after being asked if he had met the anonymous blogger. “But definitely had a few sessions with Deuxmoi herself.”
In 2022, HBO Max gave a script-to-series order to Anon Pls, based on DeuxMoi’s debut novel with O’Connell and Diablo Cody attached to write. Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television were attached to produce the one-hour drama series.
DeuxMoi is a pseudonymous Instagram account focused on celebrity gossip, mostly unverified, that now boasts over 2M followers. Anon Pls was written by DeuxMoi with New York Times bestselling author Jessica Goodman.
In the book, when Cricket Lopez, assistant to one of the most notorious celebrity stylists, revamps her old style Instagram account and turns it into a celebrity gossip blog on a drunken whim, she never thinks it will become anything.
When the account grows overnight and, even wilder, when she starts getting gossip from fans — juicy gossip — she has to face facts: her Instagram is now famous. She is now famous. Though no one knows that she is behind the account, its newfound success is affecting her real life.
As the account grows and becomes more and more famous, she has to wonder: is it — the fame, the insider access, the escape from real life — really worth losing everything she has?

Stephen Chow’s Kung Fu Soccer Lands Worldwide Distribution Deal
Encore Films has acquired worldwide distribution rights outside mainland China to Kung Fu Soccer, Stephen Chow‘s first film as director in seven years and the long-awaited spin-off of his beloved martial-arts-meets-football hit Shaolin Soccer from 2001.
The Singapore-based distributor will handle theatrical and related rights across international markets outside the mainland, where the film will be released by Maoyan Entertainment. Release dates are still to be announced.
Chow wrote and directed Kung Fu Soccer — covered for the past two years under its announced title, Shaolin Women’s Soccer — but does not appear in it, having stepped back from acting after 2008’s CJ7. The film recasts the Shaolin Soccer premise around an all-women squad: the underdog Emei team, who integrate martial arts into their game on an improbable run at a championship. Zhang Xiaofei (Hi, Mom) leads the cast as the team’s captain, alongside Dilraba Dilmurat and Lay Zhang (Zhang Yixing).
Shot in 2025 and now in post-production — with heavy use of visual effects — the film is expected in 2026, the 25th anniversary of Shaolin Soccer. It will also hope to ride the global enthusiasm surrounding this year’s FIFA World Cup.
Chow remains one of the most internationally recognizable figures in Chinese-language cinema, with a cherished body of irreverent work that includes Shaolin Soccer, The Mermaid, CJ7 and Kung Fu Hustle, the last of which grossed more than $100 million worldwide.
“Most football films ask, ‘Can they win the match?’” said Encore managing director Joyce Lee. “A Stephen Chow film asks, ‘Can they win the match while breaking the laws of physics?’”
Encore Films, founded in 2003, has built a regional distribution business out of Singapore, with recent releases including the record-setting animation Ne Zha 2. It acquired Kung Fu Soccer from Chow’s production banner, The Star Overseas, and further territory deals are still being lined up.
A spokesperson from The Star Overseas added: “We are delighted to collaborate with Encore Films. With its extensive international distribution experience and strong network of partners worldwide, we believe Kung Fu Soccer will reach audiences across many markets. We also look forward to working with outstanding distribution partners around the world to bring this exciting film to global audiences.”
