The official X/Twitter account for the television anime of Yū Chiba‘s Kindergarten WARS (Yōchien Wars) manga revealed on Thursday that Mirei Kumagai will voice Mac, a teacher in the Violet class and Lyla’s caretaker who wears a yellow bear costume:

The anime will debut in spring 2027.

Shinsuke Gomi (episode director for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Secrets of the Silent Witch) is directing the anime at Sunrise and Felix Film, and Junko Yamanaka (Kamisama Kiss, Servamp) is designing the characters.

Shueisha‘s MANGA Plus website publishes the Kindergarten WARS manga digitally. Yen Press published the manga’s fourth volume physically on April 28.

Yen Press describes the story:

Rita is Convict 999, a former legendary assassin who now works at a kindergarten for the children of world leaders. Her job is to protect the schoolchildren from the clutches of would-be assassins sent after them! But even with her overwhelming strength, Rita has a weakness—she’s head-over-heels for good-looking men!

Chiba launched the manga on Shueisha‘s Shonen Jump+ app and website in September 2022. Shueisha published the manga’s 17th compiled book volume on April 3. The manga entered its final arc in March 2025, and has over 2 million copies in circulation.

Chiba launched the Yōchien Wars -LUKE- (Kindergarten WARS -LUKE-) spinoff manga in November 2024. The spinoff manga is a 180-page story about the character Luke.

Colopl announced on Wednesday its game by character designer Kazuma Kaneko titled TSUKUYOMI will get a release for PC via Steam on July 24.

The game’s Steam page lists the game with full audio in English and Japanese, and text options in English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

The deck-building role-playing game is an offline version of Kaneko’s TSUKUYOMI – The Divine Hunters free-to-play mobile and PC game. 

The game launched for Nintendo Switch on April 23.

TSUKUYOMI – The Divine Hunters ended service on April 22, and players were able to transfer three random cards from their favorites list to the Switch version.

The Switch version features a new character, expanded story, updated user interface, rebalanced gameplay, and new card art from Kaneko. In the original mobile and PC game, Kaneko used a generative AI model to generate new art trained on his works based on actions and decisions that players made. The Switch version does not use generative AI for new card creation.

The story follows four Jinma Hunters, who enter a skyscraper known as “The Hashira,” which has been infested by demons. Each Jinma Hunter has a different gameplay style.

TSUKUYOMI – The Divine Hunters launched for mobile devices and PC via Steam in May 2025.

Colopl initially unveiled the mobile game as “Project Mask.” The company described the work as “a new game experience themed on creating ‘god.'”

Kaneko revealed he had left Atlus and joined Colopl in an interview with the company in April 2025.

Kaneko joined Atlus in 1988 and worked on the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona game series. He was involved in creating concepts, world-building, and character designs.

Studio Khara announced on Thursday that it is producing a dedicated sequence as part of the tentatively titled BAAHUBALI: THE ETERNAL WAR PART 1 animated film in the Indian Telugu-language Baahubali franchise. The film will feature multiple studios from around the world, including India, France, and the U.K. Khara represents Japan in the upcoming film.

Akira Honma is directing the sequence in the film. Noriko Itō (Undead Murder Farce) is designing the characters. Mahiro Maeda (Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time) is a key creative contributor.

Japanese production company SlowCurve is handling the planning and production coordination between the Japanese and international teams.

Ishan Shukla (“The Bandits of Golak” in Star Wars: Visions) is directing the animated film. Scott Mosier is writing the screenplay.

The first of two films will open in 2027. The story follows the prince Amarendra Baahubali in the afterlife, after he was betrayed and murdered.
