“Heartwarming” story of fox girl struggling with her identity

A website opened on Monday to announce that a television anime adaptation of Gido Amagakure‘s Yurayura Q manga has been green-lit.

The “heartwarming comedy” follows Kyūko, a high school girl who was born to a human and a fox. Although she has eight beautiful, talented older siblings, she worries about being just ordinary, and she cannot control her fox charm powers well. Her childhood friend Haru-chan tells her that he find her charming and totally adores her, but still …. The fox girl Kyūko works hard for everyone and for herself.

Amagakure launched the manga in Hakusensha‘s The Hana to Yume Fantasy magazine in October 2019, and will end the manga on July 27. Hakusensha shipped the fifth compiled book volume on January 20.

Amagakure launched the 12-volume Sweetness & Lightning (Amaama to Inazuma) manga in Kodansha‘s Good! Afternoon magazine in 2013, and ended it in August 2018. Kodansha USA Publishing originally began releasing the manga digitally in English before it began print releases. Crunchyroll published new chapters as Kodansha published them in Japan, although it no longer hosts catalog chapters. The manga inspired a 12-episode anime that premiered in July 2016 and streamed on Crunchyroll.

Amagakure launched A Galaxy Next Door (Otonari ni Ginga) manga in Good! Afternoon in April 2020, and ended it in May 2023. The manga got an epilogue in June 2023. Kodansha published the manga’s sixth and final volume in July 2023. Kodansha USA Publishing licensed the manga’s sixth volume in May 2024. The manga inspired a television anime that premiered in April 2023. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan, and also streamed an English dub. The manga also inspired a live-action series that premiered in April 2023.

Amagakure debuted the Tomoshibi Kara Sparkle (The Sparkle From the Lamp) manga in Kodansha‘s Good! Afternoon magazine on April 7.

The staff for Shin Tennis no Ōji-sama U-17 World Cup Kesshō Member Ketteisen (The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup Finals Members Decisive Match), the sequel anime to The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup Semifinal (Shin Tennis no Ōji-sama U-17 World Cup Semifinal) anime, revealed the third teaser visual, a new cast member, and the theme songs for the anime on Sunday. The four-member unit Aosu composed of Ryōma Echizen (voiced by Junko Minagawa), Kunimitsu Tezuka (voiced by Ryōtarō Okiayu), Syusuke Fuji (voiced by Yuki Kaida), and Shuichiro Ōishi (voiced Takayuki Kondō) is performing the opening theme song “Walls And Bridges.” Keigo Atobe (voiced by Junichi Suwabe) and Yūshi Oshitari (voiced by Hidenobu Kiuchi) are performing the ending theme song “Kinkanshoku phenomenal” (Annular Eclipse phenomenal).

Film actor Yū Shirota (Kunimitsu Tezuka in The Prince of Tennis live-action film) voices the character Romeo Fernandez from Spain in the upcoming anime:

The sequel anime will depict the battle to decide who will represent Japan in the finals match against Spain. 

The anime will premiere this fall.

The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup premiered on TV Tokyo in July 2022. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan, and also streamed an English dub. The anime was the first new television anime in the franchise in about a decade.

The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup Semifinal debuted in October 2024. The anime centers on the Japan vs. Germany semifinal, and is itself a sequel to The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup anime series.

Takeshi Konomi serialized the original manga in Shueisha‘s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1999 to 2008. The manga follows middle school tennis player Ryōma Echizen as he battles rivals to reach the national tournament. The manga inspired a 2001-2005 television anime, two anime feature films and a theatrical short, various video anime projects, a live-action film, a live-action television series in China, and a popular stage musical series.

Konomi launched The New Prince of Tennis sequel manga in Shueisha‘s Jump Square magazine in 2009. Shueisha published the manga’s 47th compiled book volume on June 4. Konomi announced in July 2025 that he plans to end the serialization of The New Prince of Tennis within a year.

Amagakure originally published the supernatural comedy manga as two one-shots before beginning regular serialization in The Hana to Yume magazine in October 2019. Hakusensha published the fifth volume on January 20. The main story will conclude in the next issue on July 27 with a spin-off scheduled to launch next year in Hana to Yume.

Synopsis

Kyuuko is a young fox girl born to a divine fox messenger and a human. Surrounded by her eight talented and beautiful older siblings, who all adore her, Kyuuko can’t help but feel ordinary by comparison. She also struggles to use Charm, the foxes’ special power of transformation.

Although her childhood friend Haru accepts and loves her just as she is, Kyuuko still lacks confidence in herself. As she learns to overcome her insecurities, she also helps the humans, foxes, divine messengers, and even gods around her with their own worries.

This heartwarming comedy follows Kyuuko’s everyday adventures as she gradually learns to accept herself while bringing smiles to those around her.
