Evan Rachel Wood understands why her “Practical Magic” character was recast but is still “sad” about it.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Wood was asked about the upcoming sequel and the fact that her character Kylie had been recast. She originally played Kylie, one of the daughters of Sandra Bullock’s character, alongside actress Alexandra Artrip. Joey King, 26, was recast in the role of Kylie, replacing Rachel Wood, who’s 38, but the “Westworld” Emmy nominee said she ultimately understands the decision.

“I read the book, and it seems like they’re not following the book,” Wood said. “I think, in the book, it would have made sense to bring me back. I think in the way they’re approaching it, the way they’re doing it, it didn’t make sense.”

The actor admitted that for the ardent fans of the first “Practical Magic” she felt bad that her and Artip would not also be there for the reunion in the sequel. She also felt “sad” to miss out on the connections she made working on the original.

“We bonded with that cast so much as children,” Wood added. “And so to miss out on the opportunity to look at that cast and look at that house as an adult and see the history in our eyes is something that can’t be faked.”

She continued: “I’m sad that that doesn’t get to exist, especially for the fans. But I wish them all the best, and obviously wish Joey King the best. And I hope she had a great time, and I still have really fond memories of being in the original.”

Both Bullock and Nicole Kidman are back for the sequel alongside Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest. They’re joined by franchise newcomers King, Maisie Williams, Lee Pace, Xolo Maridueña and Solly McLeod.

Per the official synopsis, the sequel “returns to a world steeped in moonlit mischief and powerful ancestral magic, as the Owens sisters must confront the dark curse that threatens to unravel their family once and for all in a must-see cinematic event of fun, magic and mayhem.”

“Practical Magic 2” releases in theaters on Sept. 11.

Flying largely under the radar, Harlan Coben has become Netflix‘s secret weapon. While not as flashy as some of Netflix’s marquee franchises as Bridgerton or Stranger Things, the adaptations of his bestselling thrillers have become a cottage industry, delivering high volume and solid return on investment.

Then there are big breakouts, such as Fool Me Once and, most recently, I Will Fins You starring Sam Worthington, Netflix’s first American Harlan Coben adaptation. Extending its streak at the top of Netflix’s weekly Top 10 English series rankings to five consecutive weeks — the first series to do it since Wednesday Season 2 — I Will Find You collected 7.3 million views during the week of July 20 to become Netflix’s biggest original scripted debut of 2026.

With that, the tally for the limited series, which has hit #1 in 81 countries, has gone up to 101.9 million total views to date to make Netflix’s Most Popular English Series list, bumping fellow 2026 thriller limited series His & Hers (98.2M) from the No.10 spot.

And with I Will Find You just over a third into the qualifying 91-day viewership window for the list, the series is well positioned to climb further up by several slots.

Under Netflix’s partnership with the prolific author, the streamer has released 13 series adaptations of Coben novels to date made across multiple countries, with more underway — including a show based on the Myron Bolitar books headlined by Colin Woodell. I Will Find You became the second series to make Netflix’s Most Popular List after the 2024 Fool Me Once held the No. 10 spot for awhile with 98M views over 91 days.

“Harlan is brilliant, he really understands his audience, we’ve had so much success, and I Will Find You is very much tracking to be up there,” Netflix’s Head of UCAN Scripted Series Jinny Howe told Deadline earlier this month when the series was on its way to crack the Most Popular list. “We’re very proud of its performance, it continues to be successful and watched around the world.”

Since the debut of the Netflix Top 10 in 2021, Harlan Coben shows have made Netflix’s weekly Global Top 10 list 41 times and reached the Top 10 in 93 countries. Since 2023, series based on his books have received over 450M global views on Netflix.

Netflix originally signed an overall deal with Coben in 2018. It has since been extended and expanded to include the Myron Bolitar novels, which are being adapated by David E. Kelley.

“We’re just focused on looking for the best stories; he’s got a trove of characters, and he really, really understands how to be a great partner with us and bring those stories to fans around the world,” Howe said earlier this month. “So this has been very, very successful for us.”

Tom Holland failed a husband test in hilarious fashion during a recent “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” interview with his wife Zendaya when he failed to remember the lyrics to her 2013 song, “Replay.”

Holland, Zendaya and fellow “Spider-Man” co-star Jacob Batalon participated in an interview shared online Monday with Australian news outlet Pedestrian. During the conversation, the three were asked which one of them would be able to finish the lyrics to “one of the most iconic songs of all time,” which turned out to be “Replay.”

After interviewer Lachlan Guertin read out loud a few lines from the song, Holland and Batalon quickly gave up, with the former telling Guertin, “I have no idea.” He also did not know Zendaya had already put it all together.

“That’s my song, guys,” Zendaya said, much to Holland and Batalon’s embarrassment, adding, “Yeah, that’s ‘Replay.’ So, thanks, guys. You know, you think you know someone, you know? And that’s alright. It’s okay.”

“That was the wrong reaction,” Holland admitted with his head in his hand. You can watch the full, cheeky moment yourself in the video below.

“I’m going to hold that one over your head for a long time,” Zendaya lightheartedly told Holland, who still seemed dumbfounded by his mistake. Batalon, for his part, congratulated Guertin on his “gotcha journalism,” while Holland acknowledged it was “a great question.” 

“You just got your clip right there,” Holland added with a smile. He went on to defend his mind-blank, noting of Zendaya’s song, “I just missed the dance. The little heel-up movement in the dance is what I need to know.”

“Replay” was the opening track of Zendaya’s self-titled debut album, which was released in September 2013. She has not released a non-film-related song since 2016’s “Something New (featuring Chris Brown).”

While he may have to work a bit to make up for his “Replay” flub, Holland is in the midst of hitting some new career peaks this summer. His forthcoming lead turn in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” comes just a few weeks after he starred in Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed latest film, “The Odyssey.”

The early word surrounding “Brand New Day” has turned out to be largely positive. In his review of the film, TheWrap critic William Bibbiani called the new movie “one of the highlights” of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” hits theaters on July 31.
