‘Sterling Point’ Renewed For Season 2 By Prime Video

Published

on

Prime Video said Thursday that it has ordered a second season of its drama series Sterling Point. The eight-episode series debuted August 5 and quickly became a top series on the streamer.

The renewal marks 3 for 3 in Prime Video’s recent wave of projects in the genre after Off Campus received a Season 2 renewal months ahead of Season 1’s premiere and Every Year After was renewed for a Season 2 at the streamer’s inaugural Obsessed Fest.

It looks like the streamer’s push into lakeside love stories, summer-set shows and book adaptations is paying off. Sterling Point stands out as an original series versus Off Campus and Every Year After, which are based on books by Elle Kennedy and Carley Fortune, respectively.

Sterling Point Season 1 centers on 17-year-old Annie Jacobson (Ella Rubin), raised in New York City with her twin brother Connor (Keen Ruffalo) and loving adoptive father Steven (Jay Duplass). Annie’s life takes a turn when she inherits her mysterious grandfather’s island in Canada. There, she finds new friends, budding romances and untold family secrets.

Sterling Point also stars Amélie Hoeferle as Ramona, Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie as Ellis, Daniel Quinn Toye as Rory, Bo Bragason as Oona, Mabel Strachan as Maple, Nikko Angelo Hinayo as Sully, Missi Pyle as Rory’s mother Denise, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Joe, and Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers as Kate.

“It’s been an absolute joy to see the appreciation and love for the show,” said creator, co-showrunner and executive producer Megan Park. “We worked so hard to make the show as authentic as possible and to see audiences respond to that has been thrilling. We cannot wait to dive deeper into these characters and deliver the best second season ever.”

Amélie Hoeferle as Ramona in ‘Sterling Point’

Park teased a few directions that Season 2 could take in a recent interview with Deadline. Viewers will remember that Ramona and Annie switched places at the end of Season 1 once the sisters unraveled some family secrets. It was Ramona who pinpointed the identity of her true biological father. She and Annie bonded over their shared mother Goldie (voiced by Lennon Stella as a younger version on tape), though Annie and Connor were adopted by Goldie and Steven. Annie also fell into a love triangle between Ellis and Rory, and Ramona and Oona tried to embark on a romantic relationship, but some problems came between them.

“It’s been incredible to watch audiences fall in love with Sterling Point in the way we did while making it,” said co-showrunners and executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. “It’s truly a testament to Megan Park, our amazing cast, crew, Amazon and all of our partners, who put so much of themselves into the show. We can’t wait to be back in Muskoka and for everyone to see what we have in store for Annie, Ramona and the rest of the crew for Season 2.”

Amazon MGM Studios, Fake Empire and LuckyChap are behind the series, which in addition to Park and Fake Empire’s Schwartz and Savage is executive produced by Tom Ackerley and Dani Gorin for LuckyChap.
